Well, No more XT's soon .. trading them for some hayes+undisclosed amount of money ;)
So, i really hate the levers on hayes so with the cash i will get some replacment ones.
Just cant decide which ones.
Bonz
DangerBoy
GRC
RazorRock
Anyothers?
I like the look of the adjustablity of the razor rocks
and the bonz look like they have a nice bend
Does any one ride any of these levers and have some feed back about them, ?
look at the hayes carbon levers. I absolutely dig the feel.
RazorRocks are extremely hard to find now, as are Bonz. I don't like GRC levers much.

I've got a pair of the now collectable razor rocks and I love them, they feel very strong and sturdy. I have tried a friends danger boys and they look nice, but I think the cnc'ing is too sharp for my liking. I felt like the dangerboys would chew through gloves like mad from hooking on threads and such.
Whatever way you go get replacement aftermarket levers, they all seem better than the stock levers.

Sweet, I've been waiting for a chance to plug Sulley's pimtastic levers.
I got the Moto-DHF's on my Hayes...They are pretty slick. Longer by a bit than OEM Hayes levers, which according to him, means 12% more stopping power due to the extra leverage.
The length is nice. Makes for very comfy one finger braking, and the pronounced hook at the end of the lever keeps your digit where it belongs. 2 fingers fit comfortably when you need to grab a handful too.
The lever is beefy and has been machined to be as ergonomic as possible. They have a nice solid, natural feel.
I don't like how short the GRC lever is. I also am not sure about the extra adjustment it has..you might find you set it up once...and that setting is going to be close to the shape of the GRC. The extra pivots on it for adjustment are one more point to wear out and get sloppy, and that doesn't appeal to me.
The Bonz are nice, and i have not seen the Danger Boy levers yet.
I think the GRC levers are a reasonable price, feel awesome, and look nice (love the laser etched GRC logo on them). Based on my time on them, I'd recomend them in a heartbeat.

I've got the DangerBoy ones for my XT's and absolutely love them. I've had Razor Rocks for Hayes as well. If I was in your situation, I would go with DangerBoy as I had quick and friendly service. Their product is outstanding and they're from BC..... thats good enough in my books.

I really like these ones

And i like the looks of the GRC shorty ones, i dont really like really long levers.
But uhh, are the RazorRock ones extinct now or something?

Who cares. I really don't understand the rage for "shorties".
Like you just said above.....the Moto's are where it's at....and if not, just stick with stock:D

i disagree...
if i were getting replacement levers for the Hayes brakes i'd get the "shorties" from Bonz... in silver of course...

:D
the shorties still provide plenty of leverage for single digit braking... which is what i use all the time anyways...
not to mention short levers are way less likely to get "smacked" in a crash aswell...
plus they look cool....:thepimp:

The whole long lever thing is making sense to me, the increased power and less lever sweep would be nice, but for 1 finger braking, id have to have my lever bodies pushed way towards the centre of by bars. right now is as far as id want them (with stock hayes) The only advantage of shorty levers is that it fits 1 finger a bit better, and your lever bod doesnt have to be in so far. But youll get worse lever sweep and less power

...the other reason for the replacement levers is simply that the stock ones break, bend, and snap easily, and cost more than the aftermarket options to put back on. Seems kind of silly to put the same weak part back on at a higher cost when the options are out there for a better, more durable part for less money.

Find me an aftermarket lever thats cheaper than a stock hayes...
The stock ones are made to snap and bead easy, cause its easier to replace those than a broken plunger or bend lever body.
Ive busted apart two lever bodies but have yet to total a hayes leverblade...what the fuck? haha.

Dito. Been riding Hayes since 1999 and have yet to break anything on them.
I just bought the GRC's 'cause they feel nice.

thats why im getting new lvers when i get them. i dont like the way hayes levers feel. i have never broken a lever, i have never even scratched a lever body... (well maybe a bit) but never have a came close to breaking on off.

WBC: are you still planning on giving Saint brakes a try; or do you have them yet?
As for dangerboys: they're nicely made but seem hard on the fingers.

I have the Bonz 2-fingers on my Hayes... I like them way better then stock Hayes... but... I don't actually use my Hayes because I've got Shimano XT's now and those levers feel so SMOOTH :)

crashed my Big Hit into a harbour wall in Camden Town, London after missing the launch ramp ( side of a bridge) for a gap, then fell to the water..lol
got up, lost my oakleys, drowned my cell phone, scratch the right side of crown on my new super t's, lost some skin and smacked the Hayes Mag real hard bending the lever, and make a donut shaped abrasion around the pivot hole (seen that on alot of Hayes)
but the lever held up for 6 more months, it was bent towards the floor about 3/4" out
i have big hands so it didn't seem to make much difference?
then fell off a skinny and snapped the lever pivot mounting tabs on the magnesium lever body/housing...
we can't get those trick levers easily here in england? freeborn (banshee, Ellsworth, Devinici in UK) tried to get dangerboy for weeks on the phone and email but they never got back
1 Hayes lever is a stupid high price in UK, you can get Hayes Mag 8inch complete brake for GB130, rotor 8 inch is GBP35, 1 lever is GBP45?
the trick levers would be similar price so someone get them here please? :???:

I have the 2 finger Bonz. Nice and stiff, no additional adjustment as per the RazorRocks, but definately a large improvement from stock. Stiff and responsive.

I too had this same question a few months back. I looked at the db, grc, and the bonz for my hayes mags. I ended up deciding on the bonz two finger models and have not regretted it one bit. They take a little more force to achieve full lock up due to the shorter leverage ratio, but they feel great and the added stiffness allows for a more modulated feel.

There is an alternative.
eNVy levers. Only for mags not hfx 9's. Simple. Nice. Possibly cheaper than hayes.
