399 is far to high for the comps. They are about the equivilent of the HFX-9's this year which can be had practically new for about 250, about 320 if you buy brand new from bikeroom.com.
I just got a pair of 2002 Hayes Mags (The Balck ones) for 200 shipped and everything, so consider that the Comps are a downgrade from the Mags as they have a shotty lever body assembly that is plastic and very prone to breaking under harshuse/crashing (although every part breaks these are known to break more). The lever body alone flexs like crazy when pressure is applied to the lever. I would not pay more than about 180 for a set of used Comps.
Thanks about the market value today.

the hfx nine dont work very good in my opinion i used to have them and they never worked these own the hfx no way are they equivalent in my opinion
also for a set of hfx 9 on the site bikeroom.com it is 450.00can with tax. and the hayes comps are not listed on the site.

All I'm saying is that 400 bucks for used brakes is ridiculous. Especially when they are the bottom of a manu.'s line. Look on some buy and sell adds. 250 can get you 2002 Black Hayes (Mags).
It's actually pissing me off because the market is getting Fu-bared by people asking ridiculous prices on gear that isnt worth half of what they say.
Used = -~50% right off the bat no questions asked. So unless those brakes are mint and retail for 800 bucks.....
Its impossible to find any fair prices out there today.....however, there are still a few people kicking around that are willing to sell at market value. Take e-bay for example, look there and you'll see. Brand new set of Hayes Comps for 149.99 US + about 20 bucks shipping is ~ 280-300 Can.

For a set of those id never pay more than 110cnd. Those breaks suck and dont ask for prices on here.
