looking at a frame(schwinn straight 8 ) that has a pullshock vs. the standard fox shock.
just wondering how bad these things were, and if any other companies make pull shocks or kits to adapt the frame to accept regular shocks.
anyone have any info at all?
I'm more curious about the shock than serious about buying the frame...i always like to know more about bike parts ahah.

Well,
I don't know a lot about pull shocks, other than few manu's still use them...and you won't likely find one in a DH configuration any more. Parts may be hard to come by.
The Straight 8 is an old bike. Top Shelf in it's day, but I would be worried about spending money on such an old bike. Odds are it is getting pretty tired by now, and you wouldn' want your new investment to fail on you.
You'd be best to save a tad more and get a more modern bike. There are some great deals to be had out there, you'd be far better off with something a little less yester-tech. :)

:)
A reverse pull shock could be used to simplify some frame desgins IMO.

no i wasn't interested in buying it,I'm quite happy with my norco,i was just looking at it and it lookedl ike a very nice DH race frame(essentially the same as the yeti whatchamahooey).
i was quite curious about the pull shock,as i havn't really every heard anything about them.
corey:i am planning on a newer, bigger frame come the summer...looking at (you guessed it) another norco.probably go with somehing like a team race or something.failing that, the next one on the list is a giant DH comp.

the straight 8 uses a lawill design which is one of the most effective designs in history and rides like no other... as for the pull shock it was not very reliable late model schwinn's and yeti's are much better
