I want to run a 36t up front this summer while removing the 22t and 32t. I'm concerned that the 36t won't be big enough for Whistler, I do have a 38t but, it may put me in a to high of a gear for climbing Grouse and the woodlot. Keep in mind I have a 24" rear tire, so that changes the total drive ratio from you 26" types.

you'll be fine. whistler is all about mo & flow. huge gears arent required.

it takes about 3 minutes to change a ring... if your rding whistler change to the big one, grouse the small one...

I ran both a 38t and a 40t last year up at whistler
either of those will be good for skinnies and getting some more speed under you. As for climbing, thats a comprimise you have to make for yourself.
I've found both the 38 and 40 give me perfect ratio's for log rides and da flow

Keep in mind I have a chainguide, which makes it more of a hassle.

not to mention u dont wanna be pulling your crank arm off the BB that often... its not good for either part to be removed/installed more then neccc.
personally i'd say go for the 38, the 36 isnt much of a jump...
i run a 22/34 on my BIGHIT, and i'd like to run a 22/36, but if i was able to run/spin a single ring, i'd prolly jump to a 38...
hope that helps...
I loved my 38. could climb anything. enough speed going down. good clearance.

i would run a 38, the 36 on my bighit was ok, but wasnt quite enough on some parts

I was under the impression that it's more of a concern with square taper than ISIS.
