I run a Monster T 2003 and I am thinking about mounting the integrated stem that can be used with it. My problem is I am wondering about what to do with the rest of the "pipe" (sorry, can not remember the right expression) where the old stem was mounted. Cutting it off will leave me we no choise of returning to my old stem, but not cutting it will result in ??? What ??
What have you done and what will you recommed me to do ?
Thanks a lot !

One option would be to run the top crown as high as possible, and run a few spacers on top of the crown. This will preserve as much of the steer tube as possible.

as far as i know you can put spacers above the crown. On my super i could at least, you kinda needed thinner ones than usual cause otherwise they hit the stem. IF you have the zero length stem than you might be shit out of luck.
anyway once you go to integrated you wont go back, it is significantly rigider:thepimp:

I just left enough steer tube so I can go back if I ever want to. I don't think I ever will, but if need be, I can.
You can space the top crown such that you only have an inch or two of steer tube showing...no big deal.

once you run that stem you never want to go back
run it flush so its smooth if you stack

I raised the top crown what I could, and then put sparcers both above and below the crown.
It doesn't look that pretty, but what the heck. Although I have absolutely no complaints about the stem, so I may just cut the tube and get rid of the spacers, and the potentially dangerous
I wouldn't worry too much about it affecting "resale value" as most people categorically think this fork sux because it weighs so much. That and the 888 now being available for the same price range and less weight.
Personally I like mine and I'll stick with it.
