someone was telling me that doin abubacas or stalling of anykind on my hydros is gonna destroy them by putting too much pressure. i cant believe this one bit because people go mach 10 down down hill courses on hydros and have to stop wich would cause pressure right? and this doesnt break them
have any of you heard of this?

i've heard of something like that about braking while going backwards.
its the 'backwards" trials move that are hard on disc brakes....
snapping off the mounting tabs is mount common...

I can see how going backwards would hurt 'em, but forwards??? no.
Mechanicals will have the same tab problem as hydaulics.... they are just cheaper and easier to fix.
In some rare cases the pistons might not like the extreme force but as you said people always go pretty fast on 'em.

what you "break" comes down to how cheap your frame is.... cheap ass frames with snap before the caliper does... more expensive frames will outlast and the caliper tabs and/or adapter will snap.

yeah i think its disc tabs that break due to trials moves.

Guy here at the shop did an abubaca and bent his hayes adapter and actually snapped the mount son him HMX-1s....
If youre doing that kind of stuff, just get V-brakes. No hoses to worry about, lighter, and no bent rotors.

hmm...
i can see it happening with adapters, but theres no worry if you have a strong frame with a well built caliper. the hose doesnt matter either. e.g ive got a steel on-one with a hope e4 caliper and that's goin nowhere whatever i use it for.
The pistons on the Hayes are what die from goin backwards. The little pins break off. theyre meant for only one direction.

How many times has this happened? I've had good luck going with ababucas lately, and am progressing well. I'd rather not stop trying them, but I can't afford any more parts.
I wrecked the free hub on my DT Onyx rear hub doing them already, and that was a hastle trying to fix.
