Oh boy...here we go again.
Trails are supposed to be rough...thats why I like MOUNTAIN biking. If Whistler groomed their bike runs and made them all like carpet, they'd have one less customer on their hands.
If you like smooth, fast, flat out jumping, get into BMX racing.
$300 is pretty decent. What was it last year? Something like $250?? After my summer of riding, my daily cost to ride the mountain came out to under $10. Pretty decent if you ask me. I couldn't do 3 shuttles for that much, but I can get in 12 runs at Whistler with ease.

Whistler's seasons ticket prices have jumped a full 100% in a span of two years.
Going by those numbers a summer seasons pass in 2006 should cost somwhere in the region of $600.
What gives?

I love rocks, trees, roots, puddles, rock faces and such. But I don't like paying my hard earned cash to have my kidneys and what not rattled by an endless ribbon of braking bumps.
This topic has been beat to death (courtesy of one of my threads, of course) but I still feel that the lack of maintenence on the trails of bike parts is pretty sad, IMO.
$300 ain't much, but like Travis said, how long will it be until the prices are out of reach of the common man, much like their ski passes?

not really.. it's always in pretty pour ass shape to me, for the amount of money they bring in vs. maintenance.
i dno if it's just me, but i don't really enjoy doing a drop and landing in harsh brake bumps or deep ruts. rough trails are fine by me but the brake bumps are ridiculous they maintain them like once a year.
just hire some people for 10/hour to fill the trails like a-line with dirt every few days, would be so easy.
i'm still gunna pay the 300 thou ! can't wait

No, not a Banshee, but a Chaparal was heavily considered.
Not a Norco, I like to ride uphill, and the seat angle doesn't really work for that.
I went for a giant AC2, smoking good deal with a swinger 4 and 04 slider.
And for the grooming bit, consider this: say 10 grooming machines working a night in the winter.
How about one bobcat working in the afternoon? Is that unreasonable? smooth out the braking bumps? c'mon:)
nice bike Diggs, theres hope for you yet....

They doubled they hill, you're lucky they didnt double last year's pass prices, if you dont wanna pay them dont go, I'm sure the prices wont get out of control, plus you cant complain about the extra 3 hrs of riding for pass holders.

You know nothing about runing a business for profit.
Whistler doesn't make that much money on mtb'ing compared to skiiing, and having the large staff all day long, and the lift runing cost's money.
See you slow ladies there. I look forward to mowing you all down.

Your a joke. Whistlers Open for 7 months of the year almost. That's 50 times cheaper than $1500 for 4 months of skiing from 8-3.

All I know is I wish there was somewhere down here that I could bitch about how they don't maintain and/or charge way to much for. The only "established" mtn. bike park in the US is in (of all places - no offense) New Jersey. Odd. Last season there were no resorts in WA running lifts...period. Likely the story this year.
What I'm TRYING to say is be thankful you have what you have there...I am.;)
Dont like the prices or the trails dont fuking go, pretty simple
Hard to believe we have the best bike park in the world and you guys are bitching about paying 30 bucks for a day of riding.

True, a bit of grooming at the right times would be nice :) ... but $300 is still a pretty sweet deal.
The AC2 you're getting, I thought it came with the 6" 03 sliders?

People travel from all over the world to ride Whistler's park. Publications across the world write about the park at Whistler.
You guys own $$$$ bikes, live within 2 hours of arguably the TOP rated lift access riding in the world, and you cry about a whopping $30 to ride for a day.
Boy are you kids in for a shock when mom and dad cut off the lines of supply and you are out fending for yourself. "Highway Robbery" for *$30* ! Wait until you go grocery shopping for yourself for the first time.
Bottom Line: If you don't like the *cry* rough *cry* trails, lift prices, etc...just don't go. It will be one less person in front of us in the line up. :)

Anyone know what this year's BroCard discount is? Or the local bike club discount? Those probably bump the price down to $250.
$250 isn't bad. When you have a pass, you go more often and, at the end of the summer, you're glad that you got all those days in.
15 days, 15 runs a day = 225 runs = 225,000 vertical feet of DH. How much time/money would you have to spend to do that elsewhere? And locals log a lot more than that.
i beleive the Bro card saves u 50$ again....

Braking bumps? I managed to get up to Whistler on the last weekend with my dually, and the bit on Dirt Merchant where it's stepdown, to table onto a shallow tranny into a berm, just before that little bridge. It was the coolest feeling on earth with all the suspension soaking up the bumps. I had been riding my HT up there all summer, and that was harsh.
Moral of the story: Anyone with a dually needs to suck it up about the braking bumps.

Thanks for asking lads - with your BroCard your pass will be $250. That's $50 in your pocket before you even start checking out savings in other areas.
Day passes will be $10 off every day if you don't have a pass.
The Sun Peaks deal will be $8 off a day pass and $50 off a seasons.
Get the details here. (http://www.nsmb.com/market_place/brocard/brocardintro.php)

That's great that you and your friends ride huge bikes uphill, did you meet them on Lavalife, too? See, the bike i will be riding has a better seat angle and is sub 40 pounds, yet has 7 up front and six in the rear. So while you are huffing and puffing, I'll be spinning right by you. I can't believe people are whining about the price! they've more than doubled the vert and added a lift, that's a serious commitment on their part and they only raised the price 1/5th of what it was last year......roughly estimated each run last summer cost me 57 cents, can you shuttle for that?
