DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILY

> TRINITY JANZEN-JADUNATH
> Website: www.trinitysdiary.com (for more information
> Born: December 1, 2000 and pictures)
> Diagnosed: November 23, 2002
> AML M7 (Acute Myelogenous Leudemia)
>
> Acute Myelogenous Leukemia is a very aggressive form of cancer, which attacks the bone marrow and also takes over the blood therefore making treatment for this type of cancer extremely aggressive also. Trinity spent the first 6 months in strict isolation while receiving many different types of chemotherapy. She was then declared to be cancer free.
>
> One month later during her 1st follow up appointment they discovered after running blood work that their worst fears would come true. The cancer was back. The only choice they now had for Trinity was to do more chemotherapy (salvage chemotherapy) radiation and a bone marrow or cord blood transplant. They found a match for her and started with her next phase of treatment which brought many more days filled with loss of hair and appetite, nausea, vomiting, infections, transfusions, seizures as a side effect of the medication, and even while going through all of these things, "Trinity, The Brave", pulled through each trial. Her mom, dad, family members and friends have been at the hospital day in and day out isolated in a small room and not being allowed out. Her mom Elaine and her dad Justin have lost their health, their jobs and their home and all sources of income due to the long battle which they have had with this aweful disease. The battle is not over yet and there is
> not very much time left.
>
> Now they are faced with major complications due to the progression the the cancer, side effects from the transplant and Trinity is now also experiencing paralysis from the rib cage down. Things don't look very good for Trinity and she has now been diagnosed as being pallative and all that can be done now is to keep her as comfortable as possible until she passes on. They are currently living at a hospice called the Canuck Place Children's Hospice because they don't have a home to call their own to take Trinity to and even after she passes they have no where to go. Her mom came to me with eyes full of tears expressing that due to the financial strife they are having that not only are they unable to keep up with the daily cost of living but they also do not have any funds to provide Trinity the funeral which she so deserves. This little girl is truely one of Gods angels. Myself, Colleen and my family Dale, Jeremy and Mishaila (also an AML child), cannot just stand by without
> trying to help this family in their time of need. We know what it is like to struggle through the battle with cancer and we want to try and take some of the stress away by helping raise funds. Oh man. My utmost respect goes out to Justin and Elaine. Trinity put up a fight most grown men wouldn't be able to handle. I know she'll spend the time she has left with the people who love her, and I only hope she'll pass on without knowing anymore pain.

You have my respect, sympathy and support.

I got to thinking, How about a fundraiser at the NSMB booth during the outdoor show? I know its short notice but maybe NSMB can try and get some donated items from the local shops and manufacturers, do a raffle or silent auction ending around noon on the last day. Just a thought.
Justin and Family, you have all my sympathy and support.

Darned good idea Grashopa.

I'm not much of an idea person, but I'm good at leg work. Anyone else have any ideas for a fundraiser/event we could do to help out this family? Something that could be organized quickly with little or no overhead, mtb related or not. I'll happily donate any free time I have to help set it up.

I don't know what the "rules" or laws are as far as being a registered charity etc, but even getting jars(or some kind of container) and asking the lbs to set them up at their til to collect donations, same as CNIB, SPCA etc does. Every little bit helps.

some sort of twoonie race..

I thought of an urban twoonie race but to complicated and lack of time prohibits it.

I'm in for donating time and what I can to help.

Sympthathies and best wishes to all involved.

Maybe a 24hr (team) race on a local track - the weather isn't that great, but what the heck.

Hmm, if NSMB still has that auction page, maybe try and get some goods from manufacturers and do another auction.

Just spitting out ideas as they come....

I think we all have parts that we just can't sell because of shipping complications. If we could just drop them off Friday at the NSMB IDNS booth leaving a volunteer to sell them for whatever they want, all proceeds going to Trinity, it would work out good. I would donate a brake adaptor or two... and some cash.

Trinity and family

There are no words that can describe what it is you are experiencing.
I only wish that through this you find the strength to go on.
My family and I hope for nothing short of miracles for you in your time of need.
If anything at all, I would hope our definition of the word "HERO" has been slightly redefined.

Uh, shit, man...
Thanks, most defintely go out to Eric for posting the letter, and to NSMB for stickying this. I guess I was just to proud to impose upon you folks for another level of help, shows what I know.
I still have some t-shirts, IF I can get to the show I'll bring them along for sale for the Trust Fund.

Maybe even make a trail day in honor of Trinity and her struggle.

I'd be more than willing to pick them up from you and brign them down if you cant make it to the show. PM for my cell if you'd like.

I'm definately down with the selling old parts idea as well.

Maybe even get some sort of raffable item from an lbs in each respective area and try to either auction those off at the show, online or like a 50 50 draw except instead of winning cash, you get one of the items.

Anyone able to step up and organize this?

Not enough peeps here or @ shops know me, would be good if someone well known could handle the organizing, then delegate to the rest of us what needs to be done. I have most mornings and every friday off, so I have the time to go places and pick up auction/raffle items etc, and make phone calls and stuff.

Without imposing on the NSMB guys too much (cause they already have lots on their plate as always) maybe someone could arrange with them to set up a donation box or something in their booth @ the show, or if there's going to be some parts from donors there for sale, we should supply the body to look after that so they don't have extra work to do.

In order to have a parts swap, we will need volunteers who know what stuff is worth and know how to sell. if people can volunteer for shfits in this thread it would be great.

For simplicity, parts should be in marked ziploc bags, with a suggested price on them.

A simple rubbermaid bin will do for storage. Having a couple designated bins in a shop or somebody well known's house the week before would help make sure that there is a good selection saturday morning.

So, we are looking for people who will be at the show and can worth the booth for an hour or two, and some to get donations.

It would be possible to create a photo gallery on my server to hype up what's tentatively going to be in the bin.

I'd like to.

However, its just a matter of being somewhat of an unknown in most respects.

I frequent JH, Cove and On Top occasionally since I live in Surrey I dont get out that way that much. But hey, if the NSMB guys will trust me, which I swear they can do (dont let the Surrey part discourage you ;) ), I'd be more than happy to organize or at least co -organize this in part.

Cool, I'd be willing to put ina few hours at a booth.

Of course, we really need to hear from the NSMB staff on this. They obviously have been organizing what they want to showcase in their booth for some time, so we need to know if there's any way they can accomodate this effort.

They're all good guys, but we don't want to put them on the spot or impose expectations on them. We also probably should try to avoid selling any swag that conflicts too much with the NSMB wear they'll be selling, but there's lots of other stuff that could be sold.

I have some sales skills being a former shop employee. I guess that also means I have some price/worth knowledge.

I think we also need to get this idea underway asap and get this out to the masses. Either through a new forum thread with a quick jpeg stating our mission or depending on NSMB, on the front page with nicer jpeg.

Even if I end up competing in the IDNS, I'll still take a shift or two at the booth.

Hi Cam,

Currently, there is interest on the boards to help out Justin & Elaine with their medical expenses incurred through Trinity's ongoing struggle. One of the ideas that surfaced was a 'closet clearout' for Trinity. We all seem to have those small parts that just can't sell, because it takes too much time to ship, etc. Brake adaptors seem to be the best example. These parts would be donated by the people (not shops), in order to help Trinity. We have volunteers willing to run a low-volume sale at the IDNS, where all the money goes to the family.

Is it possible for NSMB to donate some space in the booth to provide the 'home-base' for this event? All that's required is space for a rubbermaid bin of the parts, somewhere behind the tables. A list of parts for sale would be kept by the volunteer outside of the desk, in order to reduce traffic.

We do not intend to sell any products that compete with what NSMB will be there with... no DVD's, Clothes, or Bleed Kits.

-------------------

Please edit that as you wish.

Heatmizer
01-28-2004, 06:57 PM
Excellent post ATN.

A question though, is there any reason we couldn't sell used parts donated by shops? I'm sure there's a few shops that have used rotors or rims etc lying around that they might be willing to donate to the cause. Probably best to avoid anything "brand new" though, so as not to cause friction with other booths.

We shouldn't be to unrealistic or inflexible in pricing too - we rather sell 100% of the items at any price than have left over stuff because we wouldn't move on the prices.

ATN
01-28-2004, 07:05 PM
These parts would be donated by the people (not shops), in order to help Trinity.

will now read

Unlike the Blair Chair auction, these parts will be used, donated by NSMB users, or bike shops. We do not intend to compete with any other booths at the show by offering new items, unless they are spare items donated by the people.

------------------

On the pricing side of things, everything should be fair value. Our best deal makers should work Sunday in order to blow everything out.

BuckChoklit
01-28-2004, 10:16 PM
Screw the booth idea. I'll walk around witha nhuge backpack full of parts and yell and scream at people until they give me money for the parts in said backpack. I'll wear my Trinity shirt so I look legit. This way we don't take space from people paying to set up booths...

ATN
01-28-2004, 10:27 PM
If you were doing that you'd need an event pass...

If you're selling you'll need a pass. Remember this event isn't organized by NSMB, it's a large show organized by someone that doesn't know or probably much care about us, and they'll want their money from anyone selling anything, booth or no booth.

Justin - I recently went through something similar. If pain becomes an issue for Trinity, do whatever it takes to alleviate it. I didn't understand that part of pallative care, but looking back I now realize how important it is.

Life is about dealing with adversity, both during the adversity, and after. That's important to keep in the forefront of your thoughts.

Stay strong for Trinity, and your wife. You all will be in my thoughts, and in my prayers.

Hi,

My name is Colin Miller and I have followed Trinity’s story on the NSMB web site over the past months. I have not posted much but my thoughts certainly go out to Justin and his family.

I would like to offer my service as a Physiotherapist in an effort to raise some funds. I will happily donate 100% of my fees from anyone that comes in for a physio session(s) that mentions Trinity’s name (up to 4 people per day). This will enable some people to get advice regarding new or old injuries and support the Jadunath family at the same time. I am willing to continue this for the next 6 months.

OK,
This took awhile to get together in my head, but I've got to say this. Never in my life have I met such an amazing bunch of people. I have never met most of you, and some of you may remeber me as the hack that just rode along during Friday Night Urban rides, but what seems to count the most is that I am remembered as a guy who cares, and now I have been repayed for my decency to you, in more ways than I ever thought exsisted.
A lot of you only know my daughters story through the words, the stress and tears that I have posted here, and through my wifes e-mails and posting on Trinity's website. We feel so cared for, and so blessed by all of you out there, Johannes for revamping the www.trinitysdiary.com . Eric for his silent yet strong support. Jesse, and all the Rockers, for the Shirts, and moral support. The Roberts family, for coming and playing with my girl. Colin for his donation of time, money and work. Jim, and Harookz, for photos. Mike, for the Photo auction. NSMB, for all of the stuff that I've been writing and letting me post it here, and ALL OF YOU GUYS with the parts sale idea. Holly, for all that you have done in trying to help out, in the Abby area. I hope that there is time enough for Trinity to realise all of this help that has been coming form her Earth Angel Network (thats you guys' new name!).
I will be honest, there is not much time left, and we have been spending it wisely, all that you do for us will give us the chance to lay her to rest properly, in a way that befits my Warrior Girl, my Brave Little Soldier, the one that has inspired all of you to such good for one little family. It will help us rebuild our lives, and look toward a new life, one that will be hard, but hopeful and probably filled with counselling, and ultimately, we will have another little one, and maybe we will be able to it right. The work that you all put forth for Trinity, will not be wasted. Somehow we will find a way to thank each and every one of you, I don't know how, but we'll figure it out.

I hope this helps you guys to understand how I feel, I am blessed to have a family like you.

so for you guys who wanted to organize a fundraiser for Trinity's family at the outdoor show selling used parts.. Cam has said it's fine to use the NSMB booth (thanks cam).

if you guys want to organize this and think it would work i am happy to talk to the north shore bike shops to arrange for people to drop stuff off and see if they can donate anything... i can also pick everything up and bring it on friday.

this will be pretty time consuming, so if you want to commit to this that's great... otherwise i'm happy to help out with other fundraising ideas as well. let me know.

and my thoughts, prayers, and heart are still with you every day Trinity, Justin, and Elaine... you are all absolutely amazing.

Tammy, I can be there to set-up Friday at 3.

I can organize volunteers, well, keep a list of positions and fill them when I recieve an email. Due to how many ppl I don't know that aren't on here, I'd ask others to simply refer volunteers to me.

What are hours going to be of operation? How long should the shifts be?

Should I bring the digicam Friday and just snap pics of everything? By the time I go to sleep there will be an online catologue to get people interested.

Hmm, I'm beginning to wonder about the profitability of the sale... versus the time that would have to be spent on it. I have extra biking cash right now from selling parts so I'll just donate that.

Having a donation can seems like all that can be feasibly done in 2 weeks, and doesnt impose on Cam too much.

Heatmizer
02-02-2004, 10:52 PM
Well time isn't a big deal when people are donating it. I'll easily put in 3-4 hours one day, and I have some tires(at least) to throw in to the sale.

I think this might work better than selling parts on the buy&sell - at least the people there are gonna give you cash on the spot vs "sure I'll buy it, but can you drive out to Alberta so Ic an see it, and will you take Pokeman cards in trade".

My opinion is that it's used parts most of us will be putting up - so if you're willing to donatre the part, accept the fact that we want to move all of the items for any reasonable price vs being left over with half a bike sunday night. That's just my opinion though.

Excellent idea Lady G, no reason there shouldn't be. Something that can be secured/locked, just because. Anyone have such a beast or know where we could get/borrow one? Something with a bit of size to it so we can put a pic of Trinity on it and short bit of story to go with it.

I've been following the story all along now, and I have to say that I'm amazed with everyone and how strong Trinity has been. I wish I lived close enough to go and visit her and to offer my support to her Justin and Elaine, and to give whatever money possible. And If I had a credit card of my own I would donate right from here where I am. I am not a religious man, but Trinity is in my thoughts every day and I hope that she lives out her last days to their fullest and enjoys them as much as she can.

So where does this leave us all? Put me down (Dave) as a volunteer for Sunday for sure. I'd like to on Saturday as well but family calls.

Where can we drop stuff off? Or do we just bring it down? I want details :D

DEAR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

TODAY WAS ANOTHER ROUGH DAY WITH TRINITY IN THAT HER PAIN IS STILL THRERE AND THE PAIN MEDS ARE BEING UPPED DAILY WITH PAIN BREAKTHROUGH BOLUSES, FEVERS ARE ABOUT 1-2 A DAY. NIGHT SWEATS ARE GETTING WETTER, HER DISCOMFORT IS OBVIOUS AND HER CHARACTER AND ATTITUDE ARE VERY MUCH DISTURBED, SHE DOES ALOT OF LOUD YELLING AND SEEMS FRUSTRATED WITH EVEYTHING AND EVERYONE.......

SHE DOESNT WANT HER NG FEEDS TO RUN ANYMORE AND MOST LIKELY WE WILL BE TURNING OFF HER IV FLUID TO PREVENT FLUID OVERLOAD BECAUSE HER PULSE IS ABOVE NORMAL AND THAT IS SHOWING SIGNS OF FLUID OVERLOAD AND HARD FOR HER HEART TO PUMP ALL THE EXTRA FLUID THAT SHE IS RETAINING.

TOMORROW SHE WILL HAVE BLOOD TESTS DONE AND WE WILL SEE IF SHE BENEFITTED FROM THE HEMOGLOBIN AND PLATLET TRANSFUSIONS SHE HAS RECEIVED IN THE LAST 2 DAYS.

THE VOLUNTEERS ARE A GREAT HELP AND WE ALL WISH TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT.

I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO THANK PETER AND SONIA FOR COMING IN AND BRINGING ME A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT!!! AND YOUR VISIT TOO!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU GOES OUT TO D. F. FOR THE GIFT THAT CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY!!! A MILLION THANK YOUS!!!!

WE ALL HERE DONT HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH LONGER TRINITY HAS, BUT MY SENSE COMING FROM ME, THAT BEING HER MOTHER, NOT LONG..........

TRINITYS STORY WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THIS FRIDAYS, THE PROVINCE NEWSPAPER, FROM THE COLUMNIST NAMED JOEY THOMPSON, SO CHECK OUT TRINITYS STORY!!!

WE CONTINUE TO THANK THOSE WHO HELP US IN EVERY WAY, SHAPE AND FORM AND WE ARE TRULY GREATFUL.

LOVE FROM THE THREEBRAZILNUTS@HOTMAIL.COM

THANKS Y'ALL!!!

Hey I just got the donation from Bicycle Cafe. Mucho Thanks!!!
You Guys Rock!!!!!

I don't know what else to say, really...
God I could cry, it's been really hard to deal with whats been going on. Trinity is not feeling too good, and she is now on oxygen. She is distended, her tummy is huge, and it's all disease realted. She truly does not have long on this earth, and I do feel blessed that you all have been working so hard for us.
Ona another note, Trinity's funreal will be private, but we will have a Celebration of Life, that all of you will be invited, to partake.

Any way, thats all for now.

Hello Guys and Dolls,

I've just been talking to Elaine and we have come to a decision regarding Trinity's Service. We have decided that since Trinity's life has touched so many of you, in this "little" community of ours we have decided to open Trinity's Service to all of you who wish to attend. We will however, still hold a Celebration of Life for our lovely little girl, afterwards, somewhere, we have yet to figure that out. I would be very pleased if you could attend.
Please e-mail us and let us know if you'll be able to attend. The exact date, of course is still up in the air, but I have to get this out now, as I won't be able to later.

Thank you, my friends.:)

DEAR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTINUALLY HELP US IN EVERYWAY, SHAPE AND FORM, ESPECIALLY IN THE LAST WEEK!!!

I JUST WOULD LIKE TO UPDATE YOU ALL ON TRINITYS PROGRESS, WHICH HAS TAKEN ANOTHER TURN FOR THE WORSE IN THE LAST 2 DAYS. SHE REQUIRES OXYGEN NOW, HER EDEMA HAS WORSENED, HER PULSE IS BETWEEN 150-170, HAS ABOUT 2 FEVERS A DAY, AND HAS NO PLATELETS LEFT IN HER BODY AND SHE IS HAVING EXTERNAL BLEEDING HAPPENING NOW, AND THAT ALSO MEANS THAT SHE IS BLEEDING INTERNALLY, THIS CAN GO ON FOR DAYS OR WEEKS, AND THE POSSIBILITIES THAT COME WITH THAT ARE BLEEDING TO DEATH, STROKE AND COMA.

WE ARE SOOOOOOO DEVISTATED AND SOOOOOOO VERY SAD AND IT HURTS US TO THE CORE THAT WE CANT DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT, ALL WE CAN DO IS TRY TO MAKE HER AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE, SHE IS VERY WEAK, BREATHES HEAVY, AND SLEEPS ALOT AND OF COURSE THE BONE PAIN.......YET HER WILL POWER AND STAMINA AND MIND ARE ALL INTACK, AND TO SEE SOMEONE SUCH AS TRINITY, HAVE SUCH A WILL TO LIVE AND FOR HER TO GO THROUGH SUCH UNSPEAKABLES IS VERY HEART RENCHING TO THE BOTH OF US, HER PARENTS........FAMILY AND FRIENDS........

WE THANK EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY WHO HAVE COME FORWARD WITH OFFERS OF HELP AND VOLUNTEERING. OFFERING THEIR HOMES. PRINTING TRINITYS STORY ON LINE AND IN THE PROVINCE, AND ALSO ON NSMB.COM. BRINGING US FOOD, SAVE ON FOODS GC, ETC. WE ARE SOOOOOOOO GRATEFUL, THANKFUL AND TRULY BLESSED BY ALL OF YOU!!!!!

***ALSO, DONT FORGET THOSE CHILDREN THAT ARE IN THE HOSPITAL THAT NEED BLOOD PRODUCTS 24/7 AND RIGHT NOW! SO LIFT UP YOUR SLEEVES AND GO DONATE YOUR BLOOD!!=LIFE!!! AND IT COSTS YOU NOTHING!!!!*** TRINITY HAD MANY A TRANSFUSION, AND THAT KEPT HER ALIVE DURING CHEMO AND WE THANK YOU ALL WHO DONATED TO TRINITYS CAUSE!!!

SINCE TRINITYS TIME IS SOON COMING, WE ASK THAT ONLY CLOSE FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND DESIGNATED VOLUNTEERS COME BY ONLY DURING THIS VERY DIFFICULT TIME IN OUR LIVES.........WE ARE PLANNING A CELEBRATION OF LIFE, TRINITYS, IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND WE WILL ALL HAVE A CHANCE TO MEET AT THAT SPECIAL TIME AND SHARE WITH YOU ALL THE LIFE OF TRINITY, "TRINITY THE BRAVE".

LOTS OF LOVE COMING FROM US TO YOU,
THE threebrazilnuts@hotmail.com

ELAINE, JUSTIN AND TRINITY

PS-IF YOU ARE ONE THAT BELIEVES IN PRAYER, PLEASE DO PRAY FOR A SWIFT, PEACEFUL, IN YOUR SLEEP JOURNEY TO THE HEAVENS.........

PS-THIS UPDATE WILL ONLY BE POSTED ON TRINITYS WEBSITE BY MONDAY, COMING. SO IF YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT READ HER DIARY* (www.trinitysdiary.com)* ON A DAILY BASIS, PLEASE FORWARD THIS E MAIL THEIR WAY-THANK YOU!

PS-WE ARE HOPING TO HAVE A CELEBRATION OF LIFE IN MEMORY OF TRINITY AFTERWARDS AND ALL ARE WELCOME, WE ARE ASKING THE COMMUNITY OR ANYONE THAT CAN DONATE A PLACE FOR US TO DO THIS SPECIAL EVENT. ANYONE KNOW OF OR HAVE A HALL, OR COMMUNITY CENTER, OR FACILITY THAT WE COULD USE????? PLEASE LET US KNOW?! -THANKS

Thre is this thing that they do here at Canuck place, it's called the Green Lamp. What the Green Lamp signifeis is that a child is about to make their way to heaven, it lets staff and volunteers know that it's a serious time in the house for someone special, and that the time for jokes and such is to be put in check.

When the Green Lamp is extinguished, it means that the child has died, and that everyone not essential should make themselves scarce.

It brings me great sadness to let you all know that the Green Lamp now stands gaurd, at the reception desk. May God have mercy on my baby, and bring her home safely and quietly.

Thanks so much to everyone who donated and volunteered their time this weekend at the outdoor show. We raised $760 to help Trinity's amazing family. If anyone missed out and still wants to donate to them or help in other ways you can get info on how to do that at www.trinitysdiary.com. It's nice to see that my faith in people and especially mountain bikers isn't misplaced. Thanks again everyone. :)
