well i got sucked into the expensive stan's tubless package..it was $130retail but i got it at cost $75 i think...cuz they don't sell..
but ne ways....i TRY to install it to day...with all the help in the bike shop....i couldn't get it to inflate...i was like wtf..there were the sealents leaking everywhere when i try to inflate it..i was using soapy water to help seal as well..but all it was doing was leaking air from the bead while the stans sealents stuff leaked out..from the force of air..i was like omg.. this is pissing me off,
can any one tell me how they work?
i was using a tioga rim on brand new michline dh tire!
man...i would never buy that stuff again!
**u shouldn't either**

I know that IFO had to use his compressor @ work to inflate Grimjack's tires - Mich's on 321's, and Grimjack now carries those CO2 thingys in case he needs to reseat the bead.
Furious did his ghetto style (see one of the threads on how to do it for $10) and he got it sealed and aired up with a hand pump, although the hand pump took a LONG time to get it aired up.

You HAVE to use a compressor. You can't get enough air into the tire to pop the bead into place without leaking without one. At least a 100PSI compressor.
I have installed it on a few bikes, and have NEVER had a problem.

I did the $7 tubeless setup using michelin comp32 and comp24 on D521 rims and got the bead seated and tires fullly inflated using a standard floor pump.
Use lots of soapy water and even more patience in mounting the tire. I found that if you squash down the tire with your hands at the point where the valve is you can inflate the tire in a cinch. Pump fast though! I had to have a nap on the sofa after getting the Comp32 on. Doing a quick volume calculation I figure that that any wider a rim/tire combo you'd have to use a compressor or an uber-pump.
Do the work yourself instead of the shop and you'll probably have more luck with it. I know if I was a mechanic and someone wanted me to set up a Stan's tubeless system I'd be less than excited. I'd rather bleed brakes or something.
Good luck with inflating your tire!

The quick blast of high pressure from a compressor is the clincher. This allows the tire to expand towards the seats quickly. Makes it much easier.

that air compresser was pretty strong the one i use!

I believe that you have to use some form of a sealant on the rim aswell, ie. in the $7 tubeless it was a 20" tube to actually make the seal. I've never looked at the Stans system before but I would imagine it would have somthing to make a non-UST rim compatible for Tubeless?
Anyways, I'd say that the combo of a Mavic 521/321 or 3.1 would be the best way to make it work with a Micheline tire.

Agreed. A quick 60-second stop at the local gas station did the trick for me.
