Hopes because they're so very pimpin'. Nevermind whether they work better or are more practical.

As for the fork, depends on the bike and your riding style, but I would say 888.

knowing the history of Hope products i've seen first hand, i'd only consider the Shimano brakes outa those 2 choices....

as far as Super-T vs. 888, need to know for what bike and riding (mostly)...

depends on who u ask...

if u want all the details give Grimjack a PM... he owns a set, that are collecting dust in his garage...

the Hopes were to much expense to keep running...

but the new 6-pots are entriely different design so who knows how they'll be....

but i can tell you the Hope rotors have "issues"...

i dont know of any other brand of brakes that has rotors prone to cracking/splitting....

I have hopes and they are awesome, gonna get the 6ti for my hard tail cos they are pimp. Either way hayes mag are twice the price of m4 mono in the UK

Only the old lightnings were dodgy, hope make rotors for most of the moto gp teams, so I think they work OK.

Anyway minis will do anything, but the 6 look:thepimp:

Riding with Hayes is as interesting as driving a beige car:(

hopes own it up yo. i love mine and have been riding them hard for almost 2 years now, only had to have the seals replaced on my rear master cyclinder but that was done free of charge so the only money i've put into them since i bought them is the gothic rotor i have on the front. i have the m-4 on the front and the c-2 on the rear with the mod adjuster on the lever. :)

I sell loads of Hope in my shop ,never heard of any "issues"...
i run the old DH's on my Bullitt, faultless service since new 3 years ago,Minis on my XC hardtail and M4's on my XC susser......never had any probs.,honest!

Hayes are good no doubt, but seem a typical American response ie. if you cant refine something just make it bigger!

Oh yea,ive seen cracked Hayes,Coda and Giant rotors..........apparentley its due to putting them on the wrong way (ie rotor spokes should face forward)

Go Hope,help the Motherland!

There is nothing wrong with hope or hayes, both are excellent brakes. Both have minor issues that seem to be getting worked out. Hayes has a week lever interface. I have seen very many hayes levers ripped apart at the pivot. Which means a complete lever body replament. Hopes have issues with the lighting bolt rotors cracking.

I have been riding the e4 hopes for 3 or more seasons now with no failures and no issues. I have had failure but hitting trees with the lever is not a manufatures design flaw. Either brake will perform very well. I prefer the hope due to their more durable design.

hope unless you are interested in trying dual control levers or are going for saint hubs.

and i agree with blaine 100%, the workmanship is amaizing.

workmanship on the saint/xtr calipers are right up on par with hope imo.

non dual control xt/saint/deore hydro levers will all work with the saint calipers.

if i were to buy new brakes tomorrow, they would be the shimano 1 piece caliper ones. are you guys just assuming 6 piston = more power? ever wonder why the new xt is no longer 4 piston?

all of the new hopes are one peice mono bodys, and the 6 pots have ti pistons, nothing will match there power, as for the choice between them it is basically what feel you like, shimanos i have tried kinda have a spongie feel where as the hopes have a very solid feel.

hmmm, so ti pistons give more power now apparently?

you only need power to a certain extent, esp on mtb's, before it goes to a point where there is too much. yes it IS possible to have too much power.

anybody remember the prototype hydro disc shimano had available to pro's only with the twin-rotor design? guys were purposely contaminating the rotor and pads with oil and they were still too grabby.

so my question in the end is 'why?'
