The 2nd photo caused us much grief. Don't ride on that sculpture at the library or you'll get charged with vandalism. We got off this time, but I think that was the last straw for the security guards - next time they're laying charges.

BTW, in case you didn't know, Felix got a grass roots hookup with IDUN. Nice work Felix!

What law prohibits you from riding/climbing/standing or whatever else you want on sculptures? I say ride it all you like and then laugh at the security guys.

actually i disagree. as an artist i don't want a bunch of dorks riding on my work. riding on urban structures in a different story but i think bylaws against riding on artworks should be enforced.

don't put your art in a public place and you won't have to worry.

what a fucking crock that is! what better place to put it! furthermore, those works are COMMISSIONED, its not like the artist just walks up and puts it there. art is for the public to enjoy and it should be on public display. art is NOT for fucking urban tricks. if you can't find enough urban shit to do your trix thats your problem. props to the rent a cops for enforcing the rule. BTW, is that work really on public property? i don't know where that is but if its on a private commercial property, your lame argument is moot.

Good point. Usually commissioned by government with tax payers dollars. So technically I helped pay for it so I will ride it.

if i don't ride it someone else will and if they don't hobo's will still live there and yes it's public it's in the middle of the fucking sidewalk it's in my way so i will ride it

btw, its that kind of self-centered attitude that gives bikers a bad name. you want respect, you have to show it.

I agree Blaine.

Part of the sculpture isn't very strong, and as a result of one person riding that particular part once, it's dented to shite now. I felt bad using it for the pics. Felix probably rode it 10 times while we were there, riding on a bit that seemed very durable. Regardless, it was wrong for us to ride on it. Kids that don't understand are, well, just kids. They lack respect and good judgement, things that can't be taught.
