Well I bought a new dc fork and the problem is the steerer tube is too short, so I need a new one. How much is it to get a new one pressed in and for the new tube? the fork is a marzocchi shiver by the way.

It isn't cheap. Steerer length is the first thing you consider before buying a used fork. If the steerer length isn't correct - it doesn't matter how good of condition it is in.

I thought it wasn't THAT much money and the fork was a really, really good deal, so I figured it wasn't a big deal.

It's probably cheaper to get the integrated stem if it doesn't have it already, than to try and buy a new crown and steerer.

Well the fork DOES fit with the integrated stem, but i don't like the fact that only 3 bolts hold my fork on, instead of 5, and some of my friends have had problems with it constantly loosening, so I want to throw on a diabolus stem I already have. Also, do I have to buy a new crown also? or can I just get a new steerer tube inserted? thanks.

no, you can't press in a new steer. Just run the integrated....you'd be dumb to spend all the money when you can just run it the way you already have it IMO

i dont know about shiver, but you can get new steer tubes pressed in for the single crown forks. If i remember correctly, the steer tube costs like $30, and you need to add shipping and labour for Norco to do it. I think it ended up being like $60 total.
That was for shop deal, so probably double that for notmal ppl and it would be $120.

I dont remember the exact price, but it's around there.

:stupid: .....Guess you can. Go for it if you want, but I'd be wary, taking out the old one and then pressing in a new one is bound to stress the crown some. Give Marzocchi a call and see what they say.

I thought that the pressed one's can't be repressed. There are some older z1's and other forks that have a bolt on steer. Maybe the replacement steerers are for them??

I pressed a new steer-tube into my crown when i switched frames. It's not had a problem in the 2 years i've been riding it.

In your case, it's not worth the effort! If your integrated stem works, just use it. You can sell your Diablous stem no problem.

a headlock will cost alot less than a new steer-tube.

Yeah I think I might just keep it and get a headlock. The reason I wanted it repressed was because I wanted a really strong setup, the integrated seems ok so I think I will keep it for now.

just run the integrated stem.....

give Mulletron a PM he runs one on his Shiver and seems to prefer it...

i def. wouldnt spend money getting a new steerer when u have that option for free...

assuming u have the integrated stem of course....

good luck...
