I went to an online bike site, checked the rig out:
$6,200 Base
Manitou Slider add $920
5th Element add $290
add tax
Total = $7,920
Is it me or does that seem like alot for 30 lb bike ?

If you paid retail for the frame, you could order all the base parts on-line for about $4500, which would be about $6300. Sounds right. The XTR components are very expensive, and so are some of the lighter components, like the seatpost/bars/pedals/saddle/etc.

Yes, pricey. BUT - local rider, sponsor of NSMBA and local riders, and kickass frames. Super sexy to boot.

Why would you consider the Chap if you are looking at a Demo9 and Dorado?
Zedbra - Thats my frame :crybaby:. She is so pretty. Glad you built her well.

I would never spend 8 grand for a non 4-bar bike. Actually, I would never buy a single pivot.
im curious as to why its important where a frame builder lives ???
what if said frame builder moves away !!! is it then not "cool" to support them ????
personally i could care less where the bike/frame is designed as long as it does what i need....

So why even look at a Chap?
The Demo 9 is in a COMPLETELY different category as the Chaparral.
You don't buy a Chaparral to drop 10 feet to tranny. You don't buy a Demo 9 to ride XC.
It's like comparing a Jeep to a Porsche. Why consider one if you want the abilities of another.
I'm sorry that you got herded into the "bad" aspect of Single Pivot design. You'll see plenty of us Scream and Chaparral riders that never have any pedal bob or braking problems.

I wasn't looking at a Chap but just happened to run across it. Thought it was pricey. I think you could get a better bike for a lot less money IMO. To each their own.

this is why you buy a banshee. versatility.

and that's just my old scream with different fork and stuff. for the DH i had a 42T ring, different cranks, and Evil SRS. Had bling together for a 5th Element and new Bar/Stem (Was gonna get Easton EA70 or whatever) but it was stolen.
So I got this.

and am just as happy. it proves to me that they are a very versatile all rounded company. the chaparal the scream the morphine....all tried and tested. all in the upper ranks of their fields. i'd put the chapparal as a nicer bike than the bullet. and how much are those with an equivalent build? Just with the banshee you're getting much better customer service and attention to detail.
the chap isnt my bag but its got its merits.
no werd ever surfaced on your Banshee Zaskar??
if not, that suks....

or GBP £1200-1400 for Orange 222 frame
M1, Yeti DH-9, Foes Fly frames, etc. all GBP £2500!!
