Today I went for a ride with my mates as I usally do on Sundays. We went to hit some drop (nothing big). A mate of mine crashed, and he got hurt... seriously. There were two drops, the landing of the first was the take of of the other. He nosed the first one, flew over his bars and went head first onto the ground. He felt about 15 feet, his helmet was completely destroyed, broke in half, and he knew straight away he had messed with his neck.
In '99 he broke a collar bone and a big crash, and today he knew he was in big trouble again. We called the 911 straight away, he could move his legs/arms a bit, but he's still in the hospital, don't know how he's doing. Let's just hope all goes fine.

Sorry for my english (I could write in Portuguese, but the there would be no point in posting!!) and sorry for the boring post. I just had to do it.

Same thing happened to my brother, head first from about 3 feet. Fractured a vertibrae in his neck, it took a few months to heal up, but he's back 100% though. Getting him straight to the doctor was the best thing you could have done. Hope he's ok!

Well, I have news! Good and bad. He broke the 5th vertebrae (last time it was the 3rd) and he has to be operated but there is no damage to the "Spinal Medula" (the thing that enables you to move!).
When we were on the mountain, we got pretty worried, 'cause he couldn't move his left arm. It turned out to be broken... uuf!!

So now he has to wait for the operation (not a good time, christmas) and after that he has a long recovery in front of him. Let's just hope it's painless (not very likely, but...).

So, a Merry Christmas to you all and never forget to take a mobile phone to the mountains!! You never know...
