View Full Version : Victoria/Haro Woods Riders

Hey all,

So I went up to the Haro woods jumps for the first time in a while today. The bigger sets are looking paked and well looked after. But I was a little dismayed at the rest of what I saw........

I know that it's thirsty/hungry work digging, but if ppl want to keep those jumps there, they had better start carting their garbage out. I also found some rickety ass stunts in the woods, there was one drop to down slope that was built out of rotten wood and another bridge that broke when I rode up on it to check it out (sorry if it's yours, but I took the up ramp off so no one gets hurt). It's a bad place to put stunts in the first place, let alone bad ones, at least jumps seem less intrusive b/c the material was already there. And before anyone gets off on a rant about don't talk unless you dig, I did dig a bit on the old (origianl) set closer to the road, that I help put there in the first place.

Ok, there isn't much left to gripe about, the jumps do look awesome now, good job on that.

I dig there, they get shitty cause retards on full suspensions that can't jump come and ride and case and don't repair. Those of us that have dug always have to work for at least an hour when we ride to make them up to our standards. Now the right set is not finished, but I believe a very dedicated digger has been working on them to make the trannies taller so they are really pimp. Finally due to the precipitation over the last week(I know it has stopped raining) digging and riding the jumps has been near impossibe. I'm sure that digger I was talking about will post, so wait for that, PM him if you are interested in digging cause I'm sure he is digging this weekend.
peace
Daver

PS, stunts have nothing to do with the diggers

there is absolutly no reason for a dually in this town, yet all the fucking idiots seem to have them, i just dont get it. Seems like there are more around here than in vancouver.

PS dig or dont jump, and fix your divets:)

Ya, the standard rules always apply.

I'm sure it's not the die hards, but someone should whack the kids that built those stunts. And please take any garbage with you that you bring in, I picked up a few bits, but there was tons more. They are looking really good though.

I dont think YOU have any reason to have a dually in this town, however others may (i.e. me). So wait, I guess your calling me a fucking idiot then eh? I don't think I will even humor a response to that.

... your kinda of an ass eh? I own a dually because I worked for a year at mc shits part time, I don't ride much urban and I like the dually better on the trails. I don't see why people in who live in Victoria with duallys are "fucking idiots". It kinda makes me feel like casing some jumps just for your pleasure :P

oh burn...

look at vic, its fucking flat, the trails here in no way necessitate a dually, and if you go to vancouver maybe every few weekends you still shouldnt have one, unless you have a hardtail too. It is just plain wrong, and i stand by my comments. Use your hardtails around here, especially on the jumps so me and my friends, especially Jarrett dont have to put in hours every week repairing them just to have a good ride. If you had to fix ever assholes mistakes cause they ride badly with a dually and dont bother to do JACK SHIT to help the local jumps then you would be bitter too.

Dont be ignorant, i dont care how long you worked to get your bikes, i have worked as much if not more than you and ride a pimped hardtail cause IT IS JUST PLAIN RIGHT.

Man, I think you should stop right there, if you don’t think a dually is worthy of the Victoria area you need to get out more (try flow master out at Neild rd., then talk) or even an hour north up on Prevost. Not to say that duallies are necessary, but it's a choice, so stop with your comments right fucking there, and fuck you when it comes to working for your ride, I don’t think you even have a fucking clue what hard work is if you are flamin people for spending their hard earned cash on something they want and love to do. Try being positive about a difference of choice in a sport that we all love. Frankly i'm fucking sick of hearing about this hardtail pride BS, it should be about more than that. Get your head out of your ass, .
Enough said.

I live in Van and a dulie is way better hear then a ht, how often do you ride the shore, vedder, and shit like that. And don't even think about saying we ride one becase we suck I road a ht for 2 years I loved it but as I progressed so did my bike. I can't afford both so I enjoy my bike I got. I agree everyone should fix what they case but alot of times. But if you said shit about me and my ride I would just ecnore you. It isn't like you own them if you want no one to ride them buy some land.

I thought you were a nice guy talking on that other post when I was agaist the tagging by voleurz guys, but now your just a fucking asshole. Keep your shit to yourself and don't be an ass. Just because people ride a dually doesn't mean they suck, I am sure there is plenty of ht riders that suck as bad or more then some people on duallys. Have fun when your arms feel like they are about to fall off when your riding a trail with your ht, and people on duallys go twice as fast past you.

Ohhhh man, I ride a hardtail and still think you are a fucking idiot. I take it you don't venture out to the trails all that often? I don't know what you have for trails, but not everyone is a super pro sponsored extreme awesome guy like you, maybe some people ride more than just dirt jumps and street? I know a lot of riders who could rule you on the dirt jumps on full shock bikes, and I know a lot of hardtail riders that aren't as good? I 100% agree that the retards should fix their divots when they case, but you are just being a fuck up by saying that you can't jump on a fs bike...
Also, think about it from a BMXer's point of view... a bmxer would think that YOU are the fucking idiot for not riding a BMX. Why ride a bike with forks and 24 or 26" wheels when you can clear then jumps a lot easier and ride street a lot better on a BMX... pussy. If you don't need a FS bike around their then you probably don't need a hardtail around there either. Pussy.
How far away is Nanaimo from Victoria? They have a lot of sick stuff that FS would be a good idea for, too.

Just a word of advice, if you're going to be an asshole fine, just be consistent with your actions don't try to back pedal and play both rolls. Asshole or nice guy, you choose.

this is my opinion on this whole matter...ride what u wanna its all good. ht and fs bikes don't matter ITS THE RIDER..i have seen guys on super 8's rip dirt jumps and seen ht riders wreck them. i have also on the other hand seen hardtailers shred so fast on trails and dualies suck on them..its all bikes there should be no bias, otherwise we will become seperated within our sport as we have from bmxers..i can't stress this enough, IT'S ALL JUST RIDIN BIKES AND HAVIN FUN..and as for bein an ass on the internet i don't think that is a good excuse..cus one day if some one meets u from here they will instantly think u are an ass or if u ride in a bike vid people are gonna pick your riding apart cus they don't like ur personality.

wow........lets stop hatin here for a second and just listen 2 what me, matt and daver have to say. we have put alot of time into those jumps and most(not all) dualys that i have seen have done more harm than any hter iv seen there IMOP(and trust me im down there alot). but what i think the real problem is, is that no one. I mean no one helps build. 2morrow rain or shine i will be down at haro fixin anybodys help would be awsome.

we are just realy pissed off at all the lazy ppl in vic and are getting very tired of fixing. we just want to ride as much as anyone else, but i seem to be spendin more time fixing than jumping:cry:

1pm sunday haro djs be there

I dont have anything against dually riders because I am a dually and hardtrail rider. My opinion is that 95% of dually riders in the vic area suck horribly. And most of them come to haro, mess up the jumps and are too ignorant and lazy to fix them so they just leave. Simply just make the jumps not rideable for dually riders, make them bmx style, leave the right set for the duallys those are launchier and longer gaps, and leave the small set for the kids, that way everyone can ride and if the dually riders or kids wreck their line its their loss.

last time i passed by haro, i saw a guy on a bullit i think it was, with red north shore cranks - he asked if i knew some of you uvic guys - he cleared all the jumps perfectly, caused no damage as far as i could tell, and the my friend on a hardtail cased the last one horribly, like chainring hitting the lip of the tranny, and taco'd his front wheel. i think its the rider. i didn't hit them - dirt jumping isn't my thing really. btw we did fix the tranny after he cased. this was a few days after the jumps were rebuilt.

vancouver island has lots of riding that a fs is good for, trails feel so much nicer on a fs. yeah you could do the stuff on a hardtail but if you like fs's better why not ride that? i woul like to buy a ht but cant afford it. and i have only ridden haro twice so it wasnt me:o you should have come to our jumps(911) i wish more people had ridden them and built there. we kind of kept it secret but the owner wrecked them . they were pretty fun and there was a lot of jumps there.

thats what killed the 911 jumps is soooo much garbage, there was a pit we dug out and i took all of the garbage and put it in there and filled it in but within 2 weeks there was a shit load again. that was the main reason they got wrecked. also because idiots(my friends) cut down tree's there.

ask anyone, we are alllllll idiots here. And this was not meant to be a debate over fullies vs. hartails, cause there are plenty of hardtail riders that destroy the jumps. BUT full suspensions are more prone to destroying lips that are not particularily hard.
And the garbage there is gross, but I do not care about that anymore for I no longer live in victoria, yay!

As lame as it is saying sorry on an internet BB I just want to say i was way out of line when i said that shit about duallies. The point of riding bikes is to go out there and have fun, and we dont need any more seperation in the sport than we already have. I love the tight knit feeling of mountain biking and the openness and comraderie between riders. I am a nice guy in real life, im just into just saying dumb ass stuff without thinkin on the intraweb.

Peaceout.

PS hope to meet ya some time for a sesh at the local djs.

wow.....just reread that thread. first off me, matt and dave were very mad when we said all of those things(we are all very nice guys if we your were to meet use) when we posted all of those things there were maby 4-5 ppl building and about 100 people jumping. jumps take work and we were doing all of it. i dont hate dualys and i know some ppl that could own me on a dualy. but they do do more damage to jumps that hts. the garbage thingy.... it was bad but someone i dont know who cleaned it up, thanks it needed it. i hope that we did not hurt anyone 2 bad

if anyone would like to help build it would be amazing. most of use builders have given up sept a few. these are some of the best known jumps in vic lets keep it that way. come out and build. i think that every sunday we should ahve a build day. probly wont happen but if we did have a build day ever once and a while it would help alot.

my 2 cents,

jarrett

Haha like we are gonna get people to come out vic riders are dickheads. Barely anyone will even join simbs yet 1000s of ppl ride hartland. Here is an example me talking to drew smart ( lazy vic rider)
Me: Drew why dont you ever help build jumps
Drew: I will only jump them not dig and if they are there, if there is nothing to ride I wont ride of just ride street.
Me: Your a bastard
Drew: Yeah I know :P
Me: You live pretty close to thoughs jumps you should really work on them
Drew: Nah.
......
See too many vic riders have that attidude, This city has lots of potential we just need more determined riders, so dont let the lazy people get you down go out and dig, build trails or join simbs, anyway to contribute to the biking community in victoria would be good.

The smallest set. The medium set is ok. The lips do need some work and the last double needs some tlc all around. The big set also is ok, but the last double needs some work (and a runout). The smallest set was definitely in the worst shape (dead lips, roots in the runins/runouts - not fun on a bmx).

Thanks for diggin Spaztic, you da man!
