My Giant AC needs a new fork (I'm leaning toward the new 7" Slider) but I keep hearing that these frames aren't designed for dc forks. Is there any truth to these rumors?

yes, the warranty is void when using anything over 5" or 6" (6" i think).

A 6" slider would be cool, too, but will it rip the head tube off the first time I go off a 8' drop?

lol, I thought you meant alternating current/direct current.

yeh its something like 6, theyre not the beefiest frames, throw a 6" slider on it.

Your head tube wont break as long as you have a good landing.
like 40* AT LEAST.

I don't even bother hitting anything with a bad landing, whats the point, all u do is break shit.

If the frame is warrantied for a 6" fork, then a Slider will be fine.

And what do you know.... my sig is still there.

Depends on the model year the 03 are ok'd for all 7"DC with no warrenty issues. They claim their fluid form gussets have beefed up the head tube. On all other models putting a DC will void the warrenty. I ran a JRT 6" travel fork on my AC for almost three seasons and went through two swing arms (the old asymetric style) and two front triangles (both cracked at the headtube junction). I never once broke the frame just got it replaced when cracks started to form. The bike will handle a DC no problem. I was going big on that bike and lots of DJ'ing. I have seen other AC around with super T's which are 7" travel it would be intresting to see how their frame held up.

I had an 03 Shiver on that bike for about 3-4 months befor I replaced the frame. and retired my ac to the XC riding.
