feel free to either cry along with me or laff, which ever....

turns out the new 04 7"SliderDC is only 20mm taller then the 6" version...which is stil to short to use on my BIGHIT.... im a big fan of tall frt ends...

and sadly the 7" SliderDC simply isnt gunna cut the mustard, esp since the 04 Super-T i already have is taller already....

piss me off cuz i was really looknig forward to having both my bikes on Shermans....

ohwell, at least i dont have to bother trying to sell my Super-T now....

p.s. im sure this thread will make Mullets day....

I've got the '04 Slider and it's uber tall. You might want to double check the length.

21.5" from the bottom of the headset to the center of the front hub.

ahhh, I love low front ends, more control, less sketchy.

Your own preference though, I used to like a high front end, until I bought some 1.5 inch rise bars, a 0 rise stem an shortend my fork:)

04 slider for me too:D the lower the better... i always keep my crowns as low as possible... i find the bike is much more stable that way

WBC

muahahah!

In all honesty, though...The slider is mass tall. The dorado is pretty tall, too. It's not a problem of Manitou's(I doubt you'd ever think you'd hear that phrase from me  ).

Sell your SuperT, buy a 888 and be stoked. The new 888 is so tall I'm not sure if I want to run it despite the fact that everything else is so god-like unreal.

And short front ends kill it. My bars are lke 41" right now with a MonsterT and 26" wheel...I still want it lower!!

the added control you get is incredible. If you wanna bust trix, it's the only way to have it.

IFO, there's only one more fork to throw things off....Shiver DC.

IFO
10-20-2003, 08:09 PM
bah give me tall frt ends anyday... but then again i like to roll steep rollins instead of dropping em...

short frt ends make me feel sketchy....

p.s. my 6" SliderDC is curently maxxed at 21.5" axle to headset... and thats to short for use on my BIGHIT...but it works great on my HT...

for what its worth teh 04 Super-T is just about right where i want my frt end to measure... the 888 would be taller still...;)

WBC.. go-ride.com is contacting someone that is goign to make a new lower crown for the 888 which will make it quite a bit shorter (forget how much). The only problem is that if you run a 3 inch tire, it wont fit with this crown.

My boxxer is around 21.5" center of axle to crown race.
feels pretty tall, but i'm running a 3 inch rise DMR wingbar and not the shortest stem in the world.
it actually feels REALLY twitchy when i'm going slow but when i pick up speed it feel fine.

Why not just run the 04 slider and get a tall bar like what i have?

We need a lower drop crown for the 04 Sliders. That'll make IFO happy :)

why dont you just run some diff bars or something, cant be that big a deal just a little bit of frame height... if the fork is a good performer than its much more important than a little height.

True, but if you run low rise bars, low stack headset, 0 ride stem (some races buy a 10Degree and run it upside down), you really cant make the front end any lower. A shiver is an inch or so lower then a 888, and on most bikes feels high enough as it is.

Sort of the reason street riders dont run 5 inch forks, Lower it and gain large amount of control. If you dont beleive me, try it.

Shmoe is correct. Every inch gained on the front (or lost for that matter) is equavalent to ~ 1 degree on the head angle.

get a higher stem like the azonic hammer stem

exactly....lots of Norco's and similar large headtube frames wont be able to use Sliders at all...

my Small BIGHIT just barely fits even using the drop crown... if i had my large framed BIGHIT still theres no way i could have mounted the Slider....

ps. for whats its worth i dotn wanna increase stack height by running tall risers or large stems... i wanted the height below the headset.... i dont like quirky cockpits...

large rise bars, and funky stems ride odd...

but thx for teh info.....

hey ifo get a new rear shock instead to make you happy, not sure if it costs more to get a 8.75 by 2.75 beecase it is not listed but they can make one. I'm goign to get one for my 03 bighit dh if we got some bighit guys together might be cheaper at 450 can already it is a steal. Let me know if your in. I know a romic rear shcok won't stop allt he tears but it will still make you a happy guy. I wanted a 7 inch slider too on my bighit oh well I think I will stick with the boxxer, my med frame won't work with the drop crown. Let me knwo about the romic thing ok.

IFO
10-21-2003, 06:55 PM
thx for the offer but if im getting a new shock, it'll be wrapped around a new frame...

:D

im down to a 04 Demo9 vs. a 04 Foes Fly/romic

both of these bikes offer something i really like... but im still not 100% certain i even intend to buy a new frame for next season...cuz i realy dont need to... i just want to....

ifo, i dont know if this will work but, take your bottom race of of your steerer tube, make some type of custom shims/spacers to add about 40mm and then put your race ontop of that and then crank it down, and if that does not slide smoothly, take the race of a junk bike and put that at the bottom to. might be worth a try?

BAC5.2
