I'm looking into getting a avalanche rear shock it is going on my 03 bighit dh, what lenghth of hose should I get, I'm buying it used so not sure how long I shoudl get. what sort of mounting hardware will i need if it came off a bike besides another bighit like spacers and such tio nmake it fit inthe linkage. And can i only get this stuff right form avalanche or can it be bough at jh or other local bike shops. what is a good price for a used avalanche rear shock 500 to 600can. Thanks for all the help.

go to the avalanche websight and there is a fitting your bike section, go to that, there are all types of different bikes listed, click on the bighit dh model icon, click buy, then the shock is already set up for your bike, correct hose length and every thing.

Right now is a good time to buy....the dollar is good and its winter so your order will be filled right away.

If used then about $500 sounds good i think.

All fittings are on the Avy site but i you buy used i would get it serviced anyway to get the hose you really need and the internals up to par.

PS.Are you Brad??

Don't buy used. They are built for each rider and bike. DO NOT BUY USED. The pricing will be great right now with the USD/CND rates. But try to have it sent to a friend in the US and then pick it up, thus avoid duty.

BTW - they freeking rule.

there's no duty to ship an avy to Canada, but you will avoid gst by shiiping to a US address

It'll cost about $800-820ish for the Avy...delivered to your door.
Worth EVERY cent btw:D

The shocks are setup internally for the specific bike it's going on, the rider weight, and what the rider told Avy he wanted the shock to be used for.
A used one will work for you as long as it is the correct length and the spring rate is correct for you(Avy can tell you what they'd spec for ya).......BUT, it'll cost you $175us to send it to Avy and have it setup for you/your bike....it'll be like new then.
But with this added expense of sending the used shock in....I'd only pay $350can for a used one personally.

Get one though.....until you own one, you have no idea:cool:

I found out how much it is 730 can with compression, plus like 30 for shipping so that is pretty good. I really would like to ride a bighit with one on it, does anyone on the borad have a ave ona 03 bighit dh or a older bighit and is around 170 to 190 pounds.

IF you find a bike with one do not do a parking lot test. You have to ride the trails with it. It is so freeking amazing at whistler. My super 8 is like a whole diferent bike now.

And just what such evidence do you have of this happening Rossco???

And

It didnt cut it in half... merely dented the hose which in turn pulled the hose out minorly causing the seal to rupture. The bike was brand new - the avy I had retro fitted from my stab primo.

And MONSTER T

I'm only 160 ish but if you come down to Van/Surrey, I'll let you ride mine. Its a small frame and thats also if i havent sold it.
