View Full Version : Surveyor Crew on Flywheel today
Approx. 1/4 of the way down the trail I ran into a surveyor crew, apparently a school is going to be built about 25 ft from the west side of the trail. What will become of Flywheel ?
Frank said soemthing about that. BTW, frank is an "older" guy on a Norco XCS1 that I run into a lot, you prob have too. If they build schools, we reroute. In a lot of parts, rerouting needs to be doen anyway.
PS: Is this in the right forum?

this is probably better discussed in the Maintenance forum, especially if you want to talk about the reroute!
Thanks.

damn damn damn!!!!
flywheel was just becoming quite awsome (with the exception of the bridges:rolleyes: ) the actually trail was getting so buff and flowy, it was an awsome way to finish a TC ride. oh well, if it needs to be re-routed (to the east i'm assuming:???: ), it'll just be all the more reason for me to get out and do some trail work.

me and my friends are building a trail to the east of Flywheel so we could always jsut hook them up in places.
sorry guys ! I realized that I used the wrong forum after I submitted the thread. The ride was awesome as usual.
That's ok man, it's great to talk to Burke riders on the board. I Pm'ed sharon to move the thread (or the first post) though.
Anyone for flywheel today? I'm not up for much.
I would love to ride , but i can't , i'm at work

Destruction.
The city will build a $200,000 skatepark for a bunch of kids, but will pave over the bike trails jsut to build housing. That's stupid.

That's because the property that our bike trails are on is worth millions. A skatepark take only one lot. We require a bit more real estate to keep us happy. I doubt they will go much higher on than Harper Road though. I would hate that mountain to end up looking like Citadel Heights or Westwood Plateau. When I moved here in 1990, those areas were all trees too. Heck we even had a nice racetrack in Coquitlam. Now we have squat.

With the real estate, all the city has to do is jsut not buy and build on the land. We don't require the city to come out and build our trails do we?
Hopefully they won't go above Harper. When it coems to Burke, the city of coquitlam are assholes. North poco and norhteast coquitlam should join to make a thrid city called Burke Village or soemthing.

. If you were a business man, and you had a big section of land that you could develop for millions, and get a thousand more people paying huges taxes every year, would you say "No, I like to leave that area to the mountain bikers"
You have the whole upper mountain for that. Sorry man, I agree it sucks, but it's just business.
If they leave the upper areas, it's fine. As for Flywheel, the problem may be solved my rerouting some sections to the east. I like the lower trails because they are a great way to finish a ride, an dare easy to get to.

I agree, and sometimes it's nice to do a quick after work/school ride that you just have some fun at, rather than climbing for an hour or so to get to.
On another note, Greg Moore was voted on to Port Coquitlam city council this year. For those who don't know Greg, besides being an all around nice guy, his wife Erin is the founder of Women's Only (http://www.womensonly.com) mountain club and they are both extremely avid mountain bikers, and ride Burke frequently. This can only help our cause.
