Arrggg. 3 rides, friday, saturday and sunday. Every morning (saturday, sunday, monday) I'd wake up and find my rear tire flat again... both times I put a new tube in and the second time I throughly inspected my tire to make sure there was nothing that could puncture it, I cleaned it and everything but still, another flat! I had to ride home from GM place with a flat on saturday night at 11:45 (over seabus to north shore) and my rim is scratched up on the edges, could that have something to do with it? It doesn't really concern me that its a bit recked because I am selling it urban cheep for doul 26"s :coo: So what could it be? Flat after flat after flat....EY YA YA

DH tubes???

Find out where on the tube the puncture is. That'll narrow your search significantly.

Don't listen to Blah - wait, that goes without saying.

Inflate the busted tube, match the hole to where it would be placed on the tire, search the entire 360 degrees and a couple inches for and aft for the cause because sometimes tubes shift, etc.

Chances are, if you can't find a rock or thorn or anything, there's something either imbedded under the visible rubber of the tire, in which case you should rub your finger around in there while flexing the tire to pick up what it is. If you find nothing, check the bead of the tire, check where the tube sits in the rim and finally, check the rim strip.

If all else fails, you said you were replacing the tire and rim anyway

BTW, I fix over 20 flats a week  (Im a wrench)

Check your tire sidewalls.

I had an old tire that I put abck on after a summer of running a different tire. I rode up Burke and it flatted 10mins away from the trailhead on the way UP. New tube. Rode to bike store to get a spare, 2 mins later I flat on the way to the bus. Halfway down second sfu run that day I flat again. Patch. Do another run, take the bus home, and it blows up again halfway between the bus and my house.

Put on the old tire (one I used in summer) and it's fine.

make sure you dont pinch the tube with the tire levers.

i had a problem with flats. i mean it was outrageous. eventually i traced it to the rim tape--the time tape was (Atomic) cutting the tubes.

then i took some packing tape and taped the inside of my rim tightly with it. i made it all nice smooth in there. no rim tape, just a few layers of 1 inch wide packing tape. no flats at all since then.

also, i put the tube in with talcum powder now.....

i am not sure if that is your problem. my flats were very characteristic; little sliceson the inside of the tube.

Oh man, you're double flatting on your next ride for sure now. You shouldn't have said anything.

I don't know why, but flats seem to come in groups anyways. I hadn't gotten a flat for the longest time, then I got two on Sunday. Both on different bikes, and it looks like my road bike is slow leaking. If you've checked everthing very well I'd say bad luck.
