Don't bother! I did that at sumas one time when I got a flat with no tube.. it helped for the time being, but man was it a pain in the ass afterwords! Had to wash the mud and dirt and shit out, then I popped a tube later on cuz there was little bits leftover somehow..
No good.

The folded dollar bill is to temporarily patch a rip in a tire.

Use 3 American dollar bills and buy a tube to carry with you.
Get some zipties and stuff it to the brim with leaves. It'll work, but you've gotta re-pack it a few times.
I've done it once, but didn't ride it out, and I was getting a new tire anyway.

yes nelson and i have done it before it was riding through a park though, and it was only a 10min ride home and it worked pretty good and was probably a bitch to clean out. This was mainly on a paved path ride home so i dont know how well it would hold up on a trail, but it did work pretty well

I've done it. Works fine. Cleaning it up is a bitch. Dont do it if your rim tape sucks because youll end up with shit indie your rim.
i duck taped my tube with a hole. it worked pretty good. it was on pavement tho.

I patched a tube with hotglue once when I ran out of patches, worked great.

I've never done it but it doesn't seem like it would work very well. The leaves will quickly break down as you ride so you'll have to keep stuffing more in. Unless you're absolutely in the middle of nowhere I would rather just walk.

If you're not prepared to walk all the way from wherever you'll be...carry a tube and a pump. If you're gonna be really far away...carry 2 tubes or more.

ive done it quite a few times more then 5 im thinking.. its not near and inflated tube and it wont let your ride agressively ither.. however it sofens the bumps and what not as your ride out... but it will just all come out of the tire quickly.. may awell levae the tube in because you wont have to pick as much grass etc

what about cutting out the section with the hole and tying off both ends? I always wanted to try that.

I guess if you tied it tight enough, it might hold air. But since you're packing a pump, you might as well pack a postage stamp sized glueless patch with you. The Park ones come about 6 to a pack, and cost something like $4.

When my kid was little I packed the 16"tire on his bike with sod so we could ride home, the main thing is to have something that rolls and doesnt wreck the tire

was that with a cordless glue gun or did you just plug yours into one of the many electrical outlets available along the sides of the trails?

when i was little my dad packed my tire with dumb-ass for not carrying a patch kit with me. it didn't roll very well and wrecked the tire.
ps - i like wheeler's idea. i might have to try that with a dead tube just to see how it works.

Yup, that used to work but inflation isn't as high as it used to be, lol.

How about a knot on each side of the hole and no cutting?
