I hit up wellgood for the first time in years, I saw that some people were fixing it up so I thought I would check it out. It doesn't need fixing it needs to be torn down and started again from scratch. I had forgotten how bad the origional building was on that trail The new stuff looks better but it seems kinda pointless to be building new stuff until all the old crap is chopped down and re-built. on the other hand the new stuff on the red r and abyss is sweet. Props to the builders.

I too rode Wellgood. I rode it just this past Sunday for the first time ever.
I agree that it needs allot of TLC. Fortunately it does not see allot of traffic and it is so far up the hill that only the deticated riders get to ride it. I think that is it's problem, the guy's that are working on it are so tired once they get to the top that they can only work on it a little at a time. ;)
I believe that the builders of the Abyss are giving them pointers and their building skills will only improve over time.
We all have to start somewhere right? I will admit that I am no expert builder that has graduated from the school of building, I am in grade 7 but I hope to skip to grade 12 pretty soon.

wellgood see's little to no traffic, thus no one is attempting to fix it but us. I admit some of the older stunts are in bad condition, but still fun and well thought out. Age takes its toll. The builders(us) who are trying to resurect wellgood can only do so much. we all are in Highschool with no cars or vans. We try to get up as much as we can. if you would like to help, feel free to do so, just contact us. like i said, we are a small group, who can only do so much at a one time. We will be working on wellgood for a while, through winter, to make it a top notch trail. I take it from your comments that you dislike wellgood. In that case, help fix, or dont ride it, let others enjoy.

I agree with everything you said except tear it down and start over. Everyting on that trail need to be re runged and re supported, We are building new stuff so hopefully it can get some traffic and people can help us out, i get of school at 2:40 and get home at 3:00 Then is takes 45 min to hike up to wellgood so we get at the top around 4:15, now it is getting darker earlier so it is more difficult to get some good building in, eventually the trail will be like new, all the stunts will be re runged and they will all be supported, All drops will have tranneys, and hopefully we will have some sweet new stunts, Cya im off to go build

Like my other fellow builders have mentioned, we are working from the top of the trail to the bottom. Work does progress slowly though, seeing as how we are all in highschool for the majority of the day. The only time we can even get up there is usually the weekends and sometimes lack the required tools to make the work go fast. A chainsaw would be nice but hard to come by with out limited funds.
This is our first attempt at trail building, we have done little things here or there but nothing that measures up to the task at hand so please bear with us. The reason we didnt tear everything down is because this way, people can still ride the older stuff while we work on it. We have more or less "adopted" the trail, seeing as how we are not the original builders, i dont think its our place to just rip everything down that others have worked hard on.
The new Well Good work is good. It's just that Well Good isn't my type of trail. That's why I don't ride it much, and therefore don't complain about it much either (also I havent done much work on it, giving me very small complaining rights)
FYI, Ride 24/7 actually has done shitloads of shed work and makes awesome swivel teeters.

I hope you guys don't think I am knocking your work.
Anyone can tell what is new and what is old on that trail. The new stuff (One Eyed Bert) is most definately new and is well built.
For the odds that you guys have to overcome in building that trail, you are doing a pretty good job. Props to you for fixing her up. I hope you keep up the good work.

How much further past TC is it (no directions, just approx. climbing time)? We thought about checking it out Saturday morning, but I'm generally done with climbing by the time we hit TC.
Rome wasn't built in day boys, keep up the hard work! Props to you for getting out there and doing some work on the trails.
10mins maybe? Seems like nothing pretty much.

Sorry Guys, I didn't mean to come across as an asshole or anything:o It was just that I was amazed at how bad the origional building was... I didn't remember it being that bad. The problem is that when I used to ride it fairly regularly I had no real idea what good or bad building was:rolleyes: I was just another hack riding and doing no maintenance. I just seems to me that a lot of the old stunts are built with pinner supports that are half rotten and weak so just re-runging them is almost pointless cuz the supports will be gone in no time if the traffic picks up on the trail. As for the trail itself I agree it has great potential and will be fun when it's back into shape. You guys have a shitload of work ahead of you though:D Anyway I definately don't want to dis anyone who is willing to get out and do some trail work... I know from experience how long it takes to build stuff and how few people can be bothered to help out.
It's also GREAT to see some of the younger riders not only doing trailwork but also willing to < gasp > climb up to get to a trail. So keep up the good work and don't let some grumpy old man ( me ) get you down.

Yea the ramp up is a killer and I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't have enough clearance to clean the down ramp. I suggest a longer, more gradual ramp up.
