who's going to go to the GK Ripper in squamish? I do believe that it is this coming weekend. I won't be racing, but I'll be there watching and cheering, and hopefully getting some good pics

I think I am coming home for it. Should be excellent like usual
Course has been beefed up. Nice new section and the gaps/berms have been rebuilt! Everyone should come out and help raise money for a good cause. The fallen Rider fund needs you...:)
Stoked to here you are coming home!

I rode the course twice on Saturday....It is AMAZING. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOo flowy, I almost felt guilty.
The squamish crew knows how to build trails. I think it is the best flow I have ever been fortunate enough to ride on.
Check out this little write up.

Well this year it goes into the fund to help people who need assistance (not necessarily riders) to try to make their life a little easier as they recover.

it's called the fallen riders fund or something like that.
I believe the course is p-nuts to 19th to the blockade then down pseudosuga? and where is this new section on 19th that everyone is raving about?

no, I'm not Bryan Raiser but I play him on tv. I'm doing a XC &DH race in Washington this weekend then heading far south riding for a few weeks. Moab, St.George, Interbike etc. good times

I'll be there racing. Obviously the DH part. I have a whippet doing the hard climbing thing for me.
I've not ridden those trails this year at all so everything will be a surprise for me! Just look for a guy on a black bullit with a brown stain on his ass.

and not since Ricky Schroder melted our hearts on Silver Spoons have I ever been so moved by a performance :D
Have fun in Moab, ya lucky bastard. I personaly can't wait for the Ripper. Always an A1 event. Plus I can't wait to ride all the hard work that has been put into those trails recently. (insert pat on back - and cash if you ever run into them on the trail)
Luckily I have a slug doing the climb so it'll be a chill ride down for this cowboy. Just look for a guy with the biggest shit-eating-grin.

Maybe I should nix my plans for Kelowna this weekend...
Zedbra - You would be missing one great weekend right in your own backyard if you went to Kelowna!
Biker Kid - The new section links P'nuts to the Blockade. It makes the end flow better! It features a small booter to berm. This new section allows speed to be carried into the GK six pack and left hip jump.
The Fallen Rider Fund needs us. Where else does the proceeds go to such a great cause? The race is only half the fun! Come on out!

The GK Ripper is less than two weeks away. For those who don't know this is a fundraiser event for the newly created "Fallen Rider Fund". It's an uphill/downhill ride usually done by a two-person team. Check out http://www.tantalusbikeshop.com/races.html for more details about the event and the fund.
This year, all riders must be members of SORCA. For this event we're waiving the club portion of the membership fee, so it will only cost $15 to cover the insurance portion if you're not already a member of Cycling BC (through another club or licenced racer). If you are already a Cycling BC member/racer then, hey, it's a free pass into SORCA. Please pass this on to non-members you know who plan to ride in this race.
The (uphill) ride starts at 2pm opposite Cardinal Concrete on Mamquam Rd and goes pretty much to the top of Garibaldi Park Rd where the climbers hand-off to their downhill partners. The downhill will take riders through 19th Hole, P-Nut's Wild ride and the like. Arrive early to register. If you want to do this race but need a partner call Tantalus Bike Shop (898-2588) and they should be able to hook you up with someone.
The post-race party follows at 6pm at the SunWolf Outdoor Centre. There will be an $8 gourmet pasta dinner, beverages, silent auction, and draw prizes. Everyone is welcome. Don't miss it.
