Hey Guys and Dolls
Today Trinity, my little uber Angel, started her Chemo in preperation for her Cord Blood Transplant. She will be getting about 6 days of chemo and three or four days of Immuno-supressive drugs. Then, one week form Monday on Oct 6th she will recieve the infusion of cord blood. The past couple of weeks have been chock full of tests and shizznit, in order to have an accurate picture of her helath and well being prior to this. In all tests she has been pronounced fine. We had to make a very difficult decision, to decide between Irradiation/Chemo or just Chemo. we chose to go for Chemo, because the Irradiation would have my baby seeing like 12 specialists for the rest of her life, not to mention the fact that she'd probably have new lenses in her eyes from all the rads as well. At least she's been thru Chemo in the past and she has been relatively fine.
We will be at Ronald McDonald House on King Edward and Angus starting Oct 1st, because the doctors want us to live closer in the event of a serious emrgency. Which there won't be right? RIGHT! Any way I'll come back later and fill in all of the blanks, ask your questions if you wish. I'll answer them.
Thanks for letting me chat about this folks, it really helps.

I think that everyone here has been touched by cancer in one way or another. Others a little harder then some, but it hurts just the same. Someone so young shouldn't have to deal with such a hardship. She'll pull through this. She has the support of her family and thousands of people from this board. All the good wishes going out have to count for something.
My sister works for the Canadian Cancer Society. I'm sure you have people to talk to and all that, but if you need any info on anything please PM me.

Hi guys and Dolls
Here I am, back to do my shift(I hate tyoping Grrrrrrrrr), and give y'all an update.
As of right now my little girl is still hummming along like nothing has happened. She has had 5 out of 7 days of chemo, and only today is she showing signs of the shit getting the best of her, the nurses and doctors are all a bit amazed that she has been so energetic, and robust these few days, so that does bode well for her.
A while back we had to make a real hard decision; do we use just chemo or do we go for radiation and chemo. It was rather hard until w had a meeting with the radiation doctor, she gave us a preliminary assessment, that quite frankly made the decision for us. Trinity would have no less than 24 potential life altering illnesses!!!!!!! Not Acceptable!!!:flame: !! We chose chemo. I won't get in to too many details about the side effects of radiation, but here are a couple: Cataracts; Infertillity(no grandkids); Thyroid Cancer, etc. She would be alive, yes but would have 12 different specialists, and eye surgery, before she became a teenager. Again the decision was much easier, relatively speaking, after that hell list. Trinity does handle Chemo very well, and with all of the supplements that we giver her, she will get thru this in good shape.
Now, the hard part: On monday the 6th of Oct she will receive her Cord Blood Infusion. This is a different blood form Bone Marrow, in that it is immature crod blood. This is good. Marrow, from an adult donor had LOTS of anti bodies, thats why it tries to atack the new body it's put into, and causes Graft Vs Host Disease, this is not nice stuff, it can cause simple bone pain, and such, right up to full organ faliure. Cord blood, on the other hand is immature so it has less chance of GVHD. It just takes longer to grow in the bone marrow. The chemo that she is getting will DESTROY her own marrow, so that the new stuff has an "empty house" in which to grow. From that point in she will ive in a "bubble". No germs, religiously wash hands, a whole wack of seroius rules. During the 3 to 4 wekks that it might take for her counts to come up, Trinity will be at risk ofr all sorts of serious life threatening problems.
The Good Part. If all goes well, she'll be home before christmas, and we'll actually try to get our life back in order. Above all, She will be ALIVE!!!!!!!!!:angel:
Elaine and I are living at Ronald Mc Donald House, on Angus and West King Edward, in the event of any problems the docs wanted us close by, either way it rocks because it is close to Trinity and its quiet and we have our own room.
Thats all for now, this post is huge, so I'll be back later on to give updates.
Love all of you,
Justin Trinity and Elaine.:fro: :angel: :brazil:

Hello Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today was Trinity's Crod Blood Transplant, It was really cool to see! In the morning Oma, and Elaine gave Trinity a bath and I moved all the essential stuff into her new room (#3). We then hooked her up to her pumps and started waiting...
At about 11:45 the Blood Bank lady came upstairs with a regular cooler and in it were two 30 ml syringes of crod blood, just like that! Dr. Rusic, then stood at Trinity's bed side and slowly, manually, pushed in the blood from the syringes. Now we wait.
It could take up to 4 weeks for her counts to come up. But we can wait, Trinity might be sick and she might ahve side effects, but we have done all that we can, it's now up to her and her new blood.
As it is she is in better spirits, the weekend SUCKED. She had a seizure, and broke out in hives and a rash from all of the prep drugs. It was not good, she was so barfy that we had to give Atavan, which is a real sedative type drug. But she is a trooper and is now feeling better.
I'll be back later on, to see whats up. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and thoughts

Well, it is day +6 and things are going along as expected, that is she's sick.
Firstly, the good news: Elaine came across an interesting fact on Monday after the Crod Blood was infused, the start time was 11:50, Trinity was born at 11:50 on December 1st. What do you think aboout that? I love it, she has been reborn!:angel:
Now the bad news (expected stuff anyways). She has mucositis in her mouth and tummy, thats when the mucous lining of your intestinal tract, from mouth to bunghole, gets all wrecked. It happens for two reasons, the Chemo, and the Cord Blood. It sucks as she does not want to talk cause her cheeks hurt, and she's barfy, and she barfs up old blood. Yuck:( She also has a fever, so the anti biotics will be starting too. Her blood counts are all over the map, and, well, she just a sour little girl, but i cannot blame her, she has tolerated all of this crap for so long that I would be ready to beat up someone too. She does get physio and Child Life does come up to play care and teach, on the days when she's feeling good. The physio is important though cause she has to be kept mobile, or we'll have other problems.
For now, and for the next three weeks we wait. She is getting GCSF, the stuff that helps cells grow, and she gets something called Immuno-Globulin, thats an immune booster, to help the new cells get their groove on, but it will take time.
Thats all for now, I'll update later. BuckChoklit has been posting Elaines e-mails, and she's more on the ball than me, so look out for those too.
thanks Justin and Family:angel: :brazil: :fro:
~~~Karma~~~ I hope she gets over her fever. I'm sure she will come out to be 110%!
Best of luck bro!
This is a big deal to us, and we hope it'll continue on. She also seems to have less of the mucositis problem, as she is talking up a storm!!! Her counts are still in the basement but her good spirits count for alot!!!!!!!!!
Hey I gots to be loud and Proud Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today Trinity's blood registered her first ANC count. Over the past three days Trinity's new blood has been producing white cells, this means that with the ANC now coming into existence, she will be able to fight off infections. It also means that she will be home by, like, end of October or there abouts:clap: :grinno:
We are exstatic, her birthday on Dec 1st will truly be a celebration, say who wants to come?? Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee e:woot:
Howdy, here is a new update :D
Trinity is almost out of here!!! Her counts are still rising, and if all goes as well as we believe, she could be home in under two weeks time. Tomorrow they will be taking off the anti-biotics, and anti- fungals. Her ANC is .48 today and by tomorrow they should be, like, .6 plus. Wheeeeeeeeee. This means that she has the ability to fight off infections with her new blood and immune system, so no need for those drugs, hopefully they will start to tone down the steroid drugs too. Those things are nasty, she has severe mood swings that make a womans monthly curse seem like a sweet day in paradise. She becomes someone else, for real, it sucks hard:mad: . But hey thats all part of the deal to have my little girl whole again.
So in other news: Trinity's birthday will be on December 1st and I'm thinking about a Super Massive party, sounds good? Let me know who's interested in coming from here, as I'll have to sort out a location and such.
Any how, caio for now:fro: :angel: :brazil:
Well, Hey y'all.
Wow it's been a rather strange, and at times weird few days here. In BCCH land. Over the past few days my daugter has been having some rough crap going on in her. Fisrtly, those nice high counts that I was on about a few days ago? Well they took a nose dive. Secondly the TPN stuff that she was getting for nutrition? Well it jacked up her liver to the point that the docs thought that she was having a Hepititis B attack in her. Her temp has been all over the map and she was not eating any thiing and sleeping waaaay too much.
Thats the bad. Here's the good. She does not have Hep B in her, she does have some type of bug in her, but it can be killed. Her liver function is starting to get back to normal. Best of all she has decided to try to eat some real food. Now all we need is for those counts to come back up and then we'll get our shit together and bring her home. We have had some real bad days and I won't lie, I've been rather depressed at times too. But this all part of saving Trinity, so it has to be dealt with. We went to Old Navy today and they were having a clearence sale on, what a bad idea... Trinity now has a new wardrobe for winter and she is now the coolest kid on 3B, whe she gets her clothes that is :D
Any way thats all ofr now, check out wwwtrinitysdiary.com for more info.
If I may..
I know a young man who just had his 2nd birthday...that's 2 more than they* ever thought he'd have because he developed cancer at just a few months. Everytime I see him I'm amazed. He is such a gift to this world, and obviously so is your little fighter Trinity.
One thing I can't get over is this boys eyes. He seems very serious, taking in everyone and everything, so intently. It's as if his experience as an infant has had a profound effect on who he is today and will be tomorrow. He's got a clean bill of health now(hoping it lasts) !
...I can only imagine that when Trinity gets through this she will have an amazing energy more beautiful and real than any of us can imagine.
Anyway, just thought a similar situation with a happy ending (or is that beginning?) would be worth telling.
Good luck. All the best.
Hi Guys and Dolls,
I know that it's been like two weeks since I last posted here and I apologize, it has been very hectic and very, well, sort of depressing(?) at the hospital.
With Trinity's good counts we got a bad side effect. The Graft vs Host Disease decided to take up residence in her large intestine and colon, giving Trinity serious gut pains and bloody poo. It has been like this for like two weeks, and the Docs have had to cut out all food, and she only gets a little bit of water, like 30ml and hour, by mouth. She also gets lots of Blood and Platelet transfusions so that she does not loose too much blood. You should try and see if you could survive like that. My Angel is sad and angry and depressed at various times during the day.
The good news is that one of the new drugs seems to be slowly reversing the GVHD but it could be weeks before she is anywhere close to being sort of normal. Her counts are still holding up despite the bleeding in her gut, which is classifeid as a minor bleed in lots of places:mad: If that makes any sense. We could be in the hospital up to feburary:censored: This means that my little one has to have another birthday AND Christmas in the damn hospital. Needless to say I'm rather angry and sad over the whole thing too. (sigh) I'm get this real old feeling at times, and some days I just don't want to get up, but I have to, and she will get better right? I mean I will have her meet Katrina Strand and she'll ride, right? She'll go to school, and I'll wait for her, right? Tell me I'm frickin right y'all, cause even though, I think I'm right, I want to hear it from y'all too.
Anyway, enough of the whining, The latest is this: Trinity's poo is now going green(eeeeewwwwwwww hahahahaha) this means that her gut is healing up, she should be able to have simple food some time in the next two weeks, and then as she gets stronger, maybe we'll be able to get an overnight pass to come home for Xmas. I think that she has overheard the whole Feb shizznit and she's decided that thats not going to happen!
Thanks for listening.
Justin.
Hey Jaru - this sounds really good, lancepaydirt is right.
Don't worry - after what she has gone through, she will be riding her bike next summer, she has a very strong spirit...and the way you have dealt with it (at least from my impressions from the bb) is very impressive - so positive and supportive that it nearly makes me cry.
i really wish you all the best and tons of healing energy from Germany.
if all that is ok, maybe you could give us an idea of what trinity likes and maybe some of the BB members could band together and pitch in for something---christmas wise??
Sorry folks.
I've not been keeping you guys up to date, I've really tired and drained lately...
Here is the news: Trinity has been doing fairly well over the past couple of weeks. The tummy pain form the Graft vs Host Disease has subsided and she is finally eating. We had a bit of a problem two weeks ago, when they tried to switch her over to an oral immunosupression drug, it back fired and her tummy got all upset again, and she had to be cut off from food. It really sucked :flame: She was pretty pissed and emotionally shot. Now that is behind us, and she's eating lots of food, chicken and boiled egg, and banana. Her character is coming back too.
Now the bad news. The leukemia is trying to come back.
We found out last Friday that the evil "blast" cells are still there despite all that she has been put through. We are almost heart broken but we have not quite given up hope. The doctors did a bone marow test to see whats going on, and they found a small percentage of those little fuckers in her marrow. We have two things going for us, one: the new donor marrow is in control of 90% plus; two: the drugs that kept the GVHD under control have been removed so that the body can once again start to attack the cancer.
Trinity will under go a second bone marrow test to see what her future will be.
For those of you who wish to help us in some way, well, we do have an account at the Bank Of Montreal. It is a Trust Fund for Trinity. You can make deposits at any Branch. Just tell the teller to look up Justin Jadunath and that you wish to deposit to the "other Account named Trini" We could really use the help at this time of the year. Check out www.trinitysdiary.com for news from my wife, the amazing Elaine. Umm if you all can think of anything else that could help us, go for it. We just do not need any more toys, we're drowning. We still have Trinity t's too, so e-mail or PM me if you want a sweet gift for a friend.
Any way here is the info if any of you wish to come and visit us, we love visitors:love:
Howdy y'all
Here's a quick update:
Trinity's relapse is real:mad: But we are not done, and we are not giving up:D Our doctor has discovered a couple of things in our favour. Firstly, Trinity's new marrow is stiil trying to fight off the cancer and it seems to be in some control. Two, they will give her a new drug to kill off the leukemia. It's called Myelotarg. It is one of the new type of highly specific cancer drugs that are slowly coming out. This one was created just for AML luekemia, and it has been used in adult relapse cases. Trinity and one other boy on the ward will be (I think), the first Post Transplant Relapse patients to receive this drug. This will hopefully help her body finish off the cancer. It costs, get this, $10,000.00 a pop. :eek:
So thats all for now, hopefully we'll be able to break Trinity out on Christmas day, and bring her here to Ronald McDonald house.
Oh, and If anyone works for any of the local bike companies, I would like a new dualie for Xmas (say it's for Charity:P )
Have a good Christmas, and give a ring eh?!
Love Justin, Elaine and Super Trinity
there's a guy in my school who graduated last year, he had leukemia, went through treatment for about a year i think, and the cancer is completely gone now. it's amazing to think of the advances in medicine. it sounds like you're on top of things.
good karma to you and trinity. she sounds like she's got a lot of willpower, and i'm sure she'll pull through.
