I have an 03 HFX Mag HD 8" rear brake. A friend wants to trade his 6" rotor for my 8" rotor. The deal is sweet, yes. But can I change the 8" to a 6"??
i have a feeling since the brake came stock with 8" its meant for 8" and 8" only, and that if i put a 6" on I might warp it.
someone prove me wrong....
thanks

As long as you get the six inch adaptors and rotors it will be completely fine.

trail worker theres gonna sell me his 01 Mr T for $275 if I can get him an 8" asap. I have one, but no adapter. hes gonna give me his 6" rotor+adapter+fork for $275+ my 8" rotor.
[edit] besides, its going on a HT and it was the rear rotor... i still got 8" front

I went from 8 to 6. Compatibility problems.
Anyways, don't make to much diff in the back.

Just couldn't get the rotor from rubbing regardless of the adjustments I made. Slapped on the 6" and no probs.

6" on the rear is plenty of stopping power.
You'll also save a bit of weight with the smaller rotor and adapter.
