Hi, i'm new to NS and that (not too much of it over in the UK) and would like some help in knowing how to construct the stuff without it falling down.
Gonna start small and hide it well, as the local authorities would be a bit pi$$ed if i started buliding stuff like...

any help would be great, like sites that show you how to build NS.

Also, does anyone have any interesting ideas for building interesting bits???

cheers all, daevh

here is one link: http://www.nsmba.bc.ca/structures/structuresmistakes.htm

and anotherhttp://www.freeride-uk.com/North-east_shore.htm

My only suggestions are this...

1. Find a place where the stunts won't get torn down. It takes LOTS of time and effort to build cool stunts and take it from me, you will be really really really bummed when you go to ride them and they are in pieces. We are presently on the war path here because a self rightous Dh guy smashed some of our stunts.

2. Don't build things so wide. Ladders and such should be about 18" wide max. any wider and they get boring quicka nd they are a waste of wood.

3. Map things out first so everything links together. Remmber the flow man, and get everyone to agree on how the trail should look. We built a 10 drop to a 45 degree tranny once and the next day our friend built a 6" wide log ride about 12' below the jump. Everyones repply "now how and the hell are we supposed to hit that?", "put the bong down before you pick up the hammer".

Have fun and keep your trail a secret as long as you can. I know its hard, but its worth it.

step one ... find big mountain
step two ... find gnarly lines with rocks roots and creeks down the mountain
step three ... make it a trail
step four ... build it up
step five ... ride and enjoy.

ps - you cant build north shore. its a place. but ye can build ladders and stunts.

ladders are the easy part of the shore. its all about the terrain.

no matter how much you tell some kids they still are stupid and refer to it as NS. just look at all the picts on pinkdike "here is me doing a new 10 foot drop [it is only really 5 feet] off my new ns."

I was thinking of building some stuff, would that be a good idea seeing as its so dry out?

Sorry, maybe that sould have been 'North Shore style trails'

thanks for the help though, keep it coming too, i've got some idea but will need to have a look at the place i'm planning to build it, maybe map it out too.

cheers

You North Vancouver guys should be proud when someone says he wants to build a North Shore.

Offcourse he means a North Shore Style Trail. But when I say to my friends here in Holland, I dropped a North Shore of 2 meters. The underdstand it, like everybody understands it.

I could say a North Shore Style Trail, but why do I have to when everybody understands it without "Style Trail";)

So don't call names on someone who says it. But be proud, that the riding off the shore is so popular right now.
