Huge thanks to Jerry Rig here on NSMB for lending me his Minolta 7xj film SLR. I shot 3 rolls and about 40 pictures turned out, its just a huge pain in the ass to scan them all but heres a few. Keep in mind the quality has droped a ton because of the scanner. No photoshop at all. Scanned at 300 dpi.

Probably because your new SLR has a better lens. Camera (35mm) bodies have no effect on picture quality.

If you have $1000 to spend, buy a cheap body and spend the other $800 on the lens!

exactly. technology doesn't change for cameras anymore. the lense is the most important thing.

main thing you need to look out for when scanning and fixing up an image from film is to get rid of all the spots and dust. i'd blow and brush off a negative, scan it directly and still have to spot check it. learning to tweak the curves in a photo is also a way to make an under or over exposed image look a lot better.

A bit smaller would be nice (800x600?). I run 1280x1024 and I can only see the left hand side of the pictures.

800x600 is plenty good for onscreen viewing. and if you think it's small, you can change your monitor resolution and all of a sudden it's bigger! :p

Just so you guys know, I would have resized them but I didn't want to open up photoshop with all the pictures, I have a slow computer and it takes forever to work with photoshop. In the past I've always resised my digital pictures but I've goten a bit lazy...I guess I'll just have to get un lazy to make the peeps of NSMB happy :)

no. SLR has little to do with the camera.

maybe the lens, but thats arguable becasue most folks aren't using the lens to the fullest anyway.
