just curious if it's possible to just get the link plates and shock from a shore and mount them on a fluid for the extra bit of travel?i have the 2" stroke shock just sitting here and am wondering how much link plates would cost?any other idea's?those link plates from dan stapleton(??)seem a lttile too pricey.a 02 super would be going on the front and it would be nice to beef up the rear.any ill effects on head angle or bb height?any informative replies would be thanked.

The fluid is made from lighter tubung, so this butcher job is a bad idea.

actually an inch of travel on a bike is not that extreme.it's an 02 so it ain't so light and i see a ton of em running around with supers(7")so don't tell me the head tube is gonna rip off.i'm pretty sure some one on here is running 7-8" on their fluid with no ill effect.and as a moot point the rider weighs about 120lbs..........

what year fluid?
if 2002,it should be a go.i have heard of 8 inch teamdh plates beigng added with no ill effects.i have also seen the frame ran with a stratos S8.i have no clue how long it lasted.

the upgrade on the back should not be a problem.
i'd imagine it would raise the bb hight to that of the shores, and incidentally the head angles would vary.running a 24 inch rear wheel,or dual 24's could tweak it to get the perfect feel.

actually their already running a 24" wheel and i'm thinkin with a super on the front..........a rear suspension upgrade would be a plus.

Then let er rip. Hope your headtube can hold it - just cuz others have done it, doesnt mean its a good idea.
I love seeing all the bent Konas because kids add on huge forks and hack landings - cuz others have done it

You could just get a frame specific to your needs.

go for it, but aftermarket plates are gonna be bling $150-200. You could probley wip some up with your metal skills easy, Flat piece of metal and some holes. Not to hard eh?

nah man, link plates are around 80 bucks for the shores.then spacer's and shock reducer bolts and crap.looking at around 100 bucks.keep in mind that you'll have you're old plates as spares or to sell, just in case.

link plates are $90, for all plates, from 2000 to 2002, not 100% sure on 2003.
but doing that, it kinda defeats the purpose of having a fluid.
but anyway, i guess it's worth a try.

something u should know, if you put on the 2.0 stroke without chaning plates, it would give you 5.9" if travel.
Also, the important thing u should know, the 2002 shore plate is a leverage increasing plate, unlike all the other vps plates. So if you put on the shore plate and the 2.0 stroke at the same time, your rear end will be mega high, super high, not just high, but extremely high. So i would go for either chaning plate or changing shock. If you already have shock, just change shock. Also, i have no clue on what travel the shore plate will give you on the fluid.

Those 2002 Fluids are beefy, it can handle it.

My buddy runs his with a 7" Jr T and 24" rear wheel, and it's ultra chopper, but he likes it. The plus is the low standover height, he has the 15.5" model. He's not the tallest guy, so it fits him well.
