How well does this ride? How big can I go on it? Im 6 feet tall should I get a long or a short (21.7"/23" top tube)? How is specialized's warranty?

Im thinking of getting one...possibly tommorow.

thanks,

Nelson

well, the SX is basically setup as a 4x racing bike.

I wouldn't ride it very hard. As far as FS goes, its almost XC light weight. Burly as shit, but a very finite limit on how strong it really is.

So freeride wise, i could hit up whistler on it and keep to the 5 foot and lowerd rops no problem?

sounds pretty good. You'll probally be faster at Whistler on the SX than people on the big bikes.

I'd tell you to reconsider anything larger than a loading dock (5.5 to 6 feet) to flat, and nothing more than 6 to tranny.

Then go for it dude, it's a fast bitch, but the HT is a bit steep with a small fork. You can't go wrong :)

its gonna have a 5 inch fork on it... that should work shouldnt it?

An SX with a Firefly would be a bike only pimps are made of.

Build it with 321's and a king or hadley108 rear hub, it'd be the greatest bike ever!

hey leroy, I just built up an SX with Sherman Firefly.

my frame was marked "medium", so I dunno if it was a short or long. i'm 5'11" and if fits me very well. i agree with BAC, even tho there is extra metal in pretty much ever area of the frame versus a regular enduro, so I think it could only happily take 4-5' to flat, based on what the enduro frame will take?

i love the ride... it handles awesome and it seems awesome for jumping. it even climbs pretty darn well (using it for xc too). the ONLY downside is the low BB height. I think I'll be trying the 68°/12" setting cause 69°/12.5" is a little steep compared to what I'm used to. but how much difference does an inch lower BB make? hard to tell right now with the shore closed...

can it take a DC without voiding warranty?

it doesnt void the warranty if Specialized doesn't find out :)

lol, just kidding.

I based the drop-to-flat on my Stumpjumper frame which took multiple 6 foot to flat drops. I would only imagine that the Enduro SX would be similar.

Every specialized model (save the Big Hit I suppose) has a low bottom bracket. It makes you pay more attention to the wrong things on the trail.

the sx is a pimpin frame. if i had more money, i would've definetly dished it out to get one. but i settled for a kona bear.

I love the frame but I dont think you can stuff a shock with a resivoir in there. The Vanila R is the weak link.

and as for the shock heres my plan:

1. ride it
2. If it blows warranty it.
3. sell warranty shock to LBS
4. buy romic, manitou swinger 3-way, or fifth element AIR.

5. wonder where all my moneys gone...

The vanilla r isn't THAT bad of a shock. I had one on my big hit, and it worked well after it was warrantied. I also have a kona stinky and the shock works just as well as my new vanilla rc. The leverage ratio isn't too bad on the horst link bikes, so I bet your shock will be fine.
