View Full Version : Sherman On a RM7?

Im trying to decide on a frame and such for a new ride, and it'll probably be used. In the first place i was thinking of getting a bullit with a 5th e, and building it up with a sherman up front, a good all round bike, or I guess some would call it a 'slopestyle' type of bike. Also Have been considering an RM7. Seeing as money is tight, the best deal will most likely win.

So i could get an 01 RM7 with a wtb wheelset, Hayes purples, RF NS XS cranks, and other odds and ends. for like 800

A bullit which the build up would be a bit more costly is still in condsideration but,

Would the geometry be all whacky if i put a sherman on it an RM7, like i was planning to do with a bullit?

Obviosly the headangle would be a little bit steeper, but too much? Any other big changes that would make it be crappy?

Thanks

What sherman are we talking about here?

Slider? Flick? Firefly?

dont forget the axle to crown height of the Sherman is tall for a 6" fork...

dotn think because its 6"s the frt of your bike will be hella short...

cuz it wont be....

that fork is a good match for a RM7 actually...:thepimp:

yea, my Slider puts my front end up with the big boys ~45 inches.

Sherman's are good for everything, buy it and love it.

I'm getting my Slider tomorrow...I can't wait. From what I read here, it won't be much shorter than my 2002 JrT. Is that right?

Mine is as tall as my buddies JrT, and he has a slightly larger tire than I do.

Ach... I dunno, I could go either way, super t or sherman.
Im lookin for the best all round 'slopestyle' bike for everything from downhills to drops to dirtjumps to the occasional urban ripping. I think if i get the 01 Im gonna get it powder coated black:thepimp:

But now im wondering if it's worth it to build it up, If instead i could just buy a full bike? I dunno again, it wouldn't be my own setup.

Any problems with 01's?
My build as of now would be
01 RM7 black.
Sherman Flick or super
Sram 9.0 all round with triggers
Hayes or XT's
WTB Laserdisc's or TrailPimps
Intense 909's 2.7 with Evrac's foam idea
Raceface cranks, bb, Shimano DX pedals
MRP Slalom Guide with hmm...38 tooth?
Dunno About bar and stem yet
WTB saddle and whatever seatpost

Anything i missed?
Hopefully the build will be around 2000(us)

Id just say the 2.75 909 intense is really about a 2.5 id go for a michi 2.8 instead. Id say go with a super t for it also. ITs better to have a bigger fork for dh than a small one and a super is still light enough for urban and dj. Or id say Go for the Z150 that would be perfect but probibly a little expensive for ya.

maybe get the sherman for it now, then next year when i have more money get an 888 set to 7 inch or a new super t and put the sherman on a hardtail:thepimp: Can't lose the ability to do x-ups now can ya?;) :D
