I've got a 2003 Junior T2 (5"model came on some the Rampage and Stinkys).

Anyways i'm 210lbs and it's a little soft. I've put in 10w oil and added 10mm height to it as well. It's helps but I think that I still need some heavy springs.

My buddy had an old z1 so he gave me his heavy springs out of that. We assumed that since the're both 5" forks the springs would be interchangable. Is this totally wrong?

Anyways my fork has dual springs in each leg and not single ones like in my friends fork.

The single spring is about 75% the length of the 2 other springs put together. There is also a spacer in my fork(3"-4").

If I made a new longer spacer could I use the heavy springs from the z1?

Thanks. If this makes no sense let me know.

On another note with the springs out and the oild drained when I turn my fork upside down one leg seems to have a loose part that slides up and down (I can only hear it). Is it suppose do that? From what I understand both legs on a Junior T2 are the same so should'nt they both make or not make the noise.

Thanks again,

You would probably be better off using the longer spring, and finding something to use as a shorter spacer. You could cut the one you have, but you might want to keep it as is just in case. I beleive my JR-t2 had 2 red springs and 2 greens. Swap out the reds with the new springs.

As for the noise, it is probably just the top out spring sliding along the cartrige. Does this sound only happen when the fork was compressed without oil?

Lockmeister,

It must be the top out spring. I just find it wierd that it's only on one leg. Yes no oil and compressed.

If I understand, you recommend taking the new long spring and combining it with one of the originals short springs and making a spacer to match.

Could I just run the new spring with a longer spacer instead? It's gotta be at least 8" long so I'm sure it can compress 5"

Are the 2000 Junior T springs the same as the 2000 Z series springs?

When the fork bottoms is it the spring or the stachtion in the lowers?

Fourstar,

I think all you need to do it adjust the rebound. You need to take the top caps off and get a real long allen wrench.

If you download the service manual it explains it.

You could probably use the new spring and a longer spacer, I just think going with the 2 springs would avoid any problems that may affect the travel. To me, it would be better than adding a longer, solid peice.

As for the one topout spring issue, I beleive the spring is sort of attached(if memory servs me, I might be thinking about my Boxxer) to the top of the cartrige, and it may have become loose, no big deal I think if it is the spring.
