I'm a proud owner of a 03 bighit dh, one of the best feeling bikes I have ever set my legs over. I just got one issue? I can fuckin pedal no derialer hanger, becase they break like butter went throught 3 in 6 days or so not hitting anything. I just pedaling and it broke 3 times same place each time. Well I know there has been problems with them, is there any companies that make steep ones or ones that don't have the stupid hollow part were it snaps all the time. I heard there is two diffrent kinds one tha tis stronger, if this si true is it easy to tell if one is stronger then the other. I live in whislter all die in the park, is it the park. I rode the shore for leik 3 months with no problems. I got chainlengh checked and all I got new cranks too see if my bent spider has anything to do with it and a new deriailer so no bent cage, and went back to my double basjring with a 32 tooth form a 44 tooth ring and a evil guide. I need a hanger now too see if this helps. I wondering do I got any opions, is there like a company using the same style hanger on a diffrent brand bikes, that are better. or is custom steel ones my best bet. NO saint I'm poor I moved to whislter so no new freicken brakes and rear end thank you, I woudl get it if I coudl. Well any help woudl be great.

try to find a hybred hanger, some cheap hybreds hangers are actually stronger and by far beafier than the bighit hanger, thats what i did with mine and no broken hanger for 4 months.

You might want to check your dropout for bending/cracking - that's what happened to me. You can see my thread regarding a new seatstay, because I continually snap my hanger as well, but it may be unrelated because my breaks are caused by my derailleur going into the spokes.
i dont know what to tell you Monstert.... i have beaten the hell outa my BIGHITs (both frames now) continually... and the only time i lost a rear D hanger was when i force-shifted it into my rear spokes...
i've been to Whistler on 13 days so far this season and ride a ave. of 12 runs a day easily... prolly 80% of them on A-line... and althou my rear chainstay has been beaten into oblivion by chain slap the rear D hanger is still fine...
i suggest u take your bike into a Spec. dealer LBS and have em go over it...there is no good reason your bike should be eating Hangers...

thanks for all the help, ifo I think i might go to dizzies, but my bike is in whislter and they no nothing there, I have done 28 days of ridin, at whislter but still. I think I will go to dizzies and see what they say that is were I got my frame and the one that came with the bike lasted the longer so hopefully I get more luck with hangers from there again.
Yeah, you need to get the heavy version...
I broke one of the light ones from a botched manual (complete bullshit) so I put in a heavy one and I had zero issues, despite tons of crashes(I bent it back tons of times).

Good luck with your quest... I'm glad to hear the new hangars break (although yours sound like they're breaking too easily).
My 2K1 is TOO TOUGH -- a big hunk of steel -- and doesn't break. In fact, the freaking hangar took the drop out and bent my chainstay -- had to warranty the complete rear triangle (thank god for Specialized's lifetime warranty).
