So i'm planning to do some traveling and i really want to take my bike along. I'm just not sure how exactly to transport it on the plane. Whats the best way to take a bike on a plane? Does anyone know of something like a bike suitcase?

The bike box is the best and cheapest but if you want somthing good get a real bike traveling box.

I've heard flying with a bike is super expensive, like $100 + one way. If you can you'd save a lot of money by shipping it UPS to your hotel

if you are going somewhere for a while, get the bike boxed, then mail it to wherever you are going. That is the safest way to get it there. Insure the package too!

Check different airlines. A friend of mine is moving to Brunei for work and the airline that he is travelling on instituted a free bike policy because it is better for the environment.

put your bike in a small bike box inside a big bike box and use 2 doubled up - flat inner tubes to hold the box closed. it gives the baggage handlers a good handle so they'll treat your bike right and it allows customs to open your box without cutting anything.

MAIL IT!!!!! Bikes on planes = $85 US each way!!

Call a cool bike store in the town your going to and they sometimes will unbox it and put it all together for you for pretty cheap.
