I just lost all of the bearings from one of my pedals(don't ask me how because i don't even know myself!:damn: )

So anyways, i want a new set of platform pedals. I can either get a simple $30 set of wellgos at a bike shop, or i can go to MEC and get $60 sealed bearing wellgos. What are the advantages of the sealed bearing pedals? if any. I don't usually ride in wet weather.

In my experience, Sealed spin smoother, and require less maintainence, but Unsealed spin faster.

Look at some Snafu's (try to find the old style with alot of replaceable hex pin's). You can get them for like 30 bucks. I have been running them for more than 3 years and have never replaced the bearings.

lots of spinning is bad btw.... i'd say the sealed ones, they'll last twice as long, and will be replacable when they do blow up

I bet that was the reason why my foot slipped off and I got a 5mm hole in my shin.....

so the extra $30 or so is worth it for the wellgo b-37 sealed pedals from mec?

I say the unsealed Snafu's are where it's at. $40 from my LBS, and it's all good. Replaceable pins, and the screw ones (better grip)

Don't waste your money. Get a set of Axiom Road Gap pedals. They're about 90 bucks but they come with a lifetime warranty which is more important than the name on the pedal. I killed one set and took them back to the shop and BAM!!! walked out with a new set no questions asked.

As mentioned before, AXIOM's are a killer deal. Got mine for 40$. Busted the bearings couple of weeks ago, went to the LBS, came out with a new set. Couldn't be happier. Come to think of it, all of their products come with a life time warranty. ;)

heres a option for a quality pedal...:

http://www.bikeroom.com/product.cfm?ProductID=120

i run these exact same pedals and they have been very good, super solid platform and the pins have put up with all my abuse...

i've only torn out like 5 pins total outa both pedals in 2 years....

trust me i smoke the pedals into shit loads of rocks...im really bad for dragging pedals....

and the price is stellar....
