Complete? Look at Norco's or Rocky Mountains. The RM7 is a sweet lookin bike, I just hear that it is a high maintainence frame, but when it works, it works hella good.
If you just want a frame, look at the Banshee Scream. Sweet looking and only 1800 CAD (1334 USD)

of course, we do need to know what your style is.
Flizzy - yea, the SLX is the hotness. One of my mechanics (am I allowed to say that?) rides one. It's a killer bike. He had an Uzzi, and just recently started getting the paperwork flowing on the SLX. Good deal I suppose.
Dont the SLX's run $2500 retail? Definite Pimpola factor.
it would defy the laws of physics
reliable and under 8k is just an oxymoron

The norco shore or team shore get my vote for a frame.

ok never mind then,
BigHit comp has about 6" of rear travel, but you can always get the linkage upgrade if you are not happy
Banshee screams are pimp
2g complete?
Only real option is the BH expert @ about 2500.
2g frame? Scream, BH DH, 2step DH, etc.

2g as in 2grand you should buy a big hit comp and throw a sherman on it and sell the dj2 that comes on it then get new tires with the money from the dj2.... I would have done that with my big hit had shermans been available...and big hits been 1500 instead of 2500, now I am lookin at the shiver:D trail pimps and the big link of course... and I am lookin for a job

yeah true only takes a 24 inch rear wheel but it is very pimp and I love it because I would have put a 24 inch rear wheel on my bike any way guess it is just personal preferance.... well if I could've forked out the money for d max I would have ran 26.. hmmm your on your own there
I'd go for a Bullit. Oh wait, that's exactly what I did! You can score a Bullit with a Progressive shock for just over $1,000 and spend the other grand on running gear. Get a good crankset (Profile or RF North Shore) and a really strong wheelset (36 spokes), and you can't go wrong.
I love my Bullit, and I use it for everything but the skatepark. It handles 10+ft drops like butter and can flow through the dirt jumps, too. I run a pretty heavy spring (475#)on it though, it sucked with the stock 325# spring; too mushy for my taste. I ran a 02 DJ1, a 03 DJ1, and now I run a 03 Monster. DJ are shite, The Monster owns!

I would say bullit as well. For the money, the are the best built, lowest maintenance, and great performance bike out there. Hence the reason you see so many of them.
BUT, you are going to find it pretty difficult to DJ on a bullit with the 5th unless you have HUGE jumps. If all you want to do is jump off of roofs and other nonsense then just buy some piece of shit DH frame on e-bay or something and go at it. No reason spending thousands of dollars on a DH bike if there are no hills around your house. No?
Just one bulllit owners opinion...
