slider vs monster. lol, the monster is good if you like hucking 50 foot cliffs, but if u can negotiate (sp?) with the small 25 foot hucks then the slider rules. Slider has better dampning, has better over all feel, and is almost half the weight. I have tried both, get the slider

the 2003 is 10.4lbs I weighed it and the slider is 7.4 I think or around there I do hucks and street.. xc dj's ooohh.. never even thought of Dj's hmm I can get a 03 Mon T with whatever springs for 1000$

slider is 6.7. that is almost a four pound difference. Then when that weight is all the way in the front, and the leverage kicks in, have fun doing a manual. dude, trust me, i have heard of a few people not being pleased with their monster, i dont know of any one who has said this about the slider.

Slider for sure...

trust me Rossco, once u have ridden a TPC+ damped fork, you'll never stray from Manitou again...

I like the idea of a slider on a le toy 3 but the thought of a monster is even better.......stick with the slider it should be good for you

yes he does and you know it ...

he destroyed a le toy frame .. and a jrt

unless rosco was smooth (sorry ross) i would say the slider

but he slams the bike and the slider wont last

I agree with the others who're saying the Slider won't last the fury of Rossco. It may have the oh so advanced TPC plus super duper damping system, but it's not built to withstand the abuse that a Monster is.

Try to pick up a pre 2003 model...

ross man, get a slider. TPC is great and your jr t did fine (for what you put it through) and im sure manitou will be great for warranty. i'm debating reccomending a monster t but i mean. you should try and borrow a monster t for the weekend and then compare it to your Jr T's weight (same as the slider?? i'm guessing so)

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 07:28 AM
ok im not weak i can see doing same with with a monster t :D its kinda 60% slider 40% monster I really want a older monster 2000,2001 but i getting my new le toy frame this week so ill check rocky cycle prices on Slider... if I can get it for 1000$ ill get it

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 07:28 AM
my 2001 JrT weight is 6.9lbs

bbike
07-27-2003, 08:18 AM
dude, a slider can take alot of abuse. I have nose dived a roof drop (20 feet) like a whicked bad nose dive, the slider saved me, took the abuse, and did not complain. go slider

may have lasted after that but u seriously shortened the life of your fork.

GO MONSTER T

Stinky D, HAve you ever tried a slider? I think that it is an extremly durable fork. Dude, unless you are shure that you want to go monster go for it, just dont count on improving your skills in any thing but dh/fr.

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 09:25 AM
all I do is dh and freeride.. Juarey rode a le toy 3 with 2001 Mon T and he did urban freeride everything.. its not hard, just gotta work a bit harder I really dont want a 2003 I want a 2000 99 or 2001 or 2002 before they whent crazy with the legs exstending past the axle

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 09:26 AM

WOULD i need soem drop crown for a monster or Slider??

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 12:38 PM
are both axles the same on the slider and monster?

Mountain Dewd
07-27-2003, 12:49 PM
the axles are the same, i doubt you will need a drop crown on a le toy, they have really short headtubes, but you dont know if u are getting a 04 or whatever.

get the slider, fuck monsters man they are to slow, it isnt really the wieght in my opionin, 4 pounds isnt to bad, but it will slacken your head angle to much i think, the front of your bike will be like weigh higher than the bike, i dont think thats good geometry in my opion, there is a lot more tech that goes into the slider, the monster idea for strength and rigidty is add weight and materal, make it bigger.

the slider has a reverse arch, materal where it is need and lighter where its not. it has a innovative hex axle.

you will love, john jesme, supert and others ride hard on theres. imo the slider is the perfect dual crown for a hardtail.

you will love the slider:D

Mountain Dewd
07-27-2003, 12:50 PM
btw if you get the le toy 4 you will need a new headset or reducer cups, for the 1.5 headtube.

get the cane creek double xC, it is raw, i dont like the reducer cups, just one more thing to break and maintain.

what headset do you run right now.

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 12:51 PM
hmmm but a monster I can live with forever and i might covert a old monster like a 02 01 00 to 6" and im gettin a 03 Le toy hopefully today and im riding dual 26... so but ya the slider is eggin me but if I can get a pimp deal on a used Monster ill do that

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 12:54 PM
Id get the woodman headset.. also im running a FSA Pig DH headset cant go wrong for 20$ but I also need to find a new hub now grrr and figure out how to attach and loosen to get my wheel out and stuff :S with a monster my bike will weight 49lbs with a Slider my bike will weight 41lbs

Burnwood
07-27-2003, 01:57 PM
Where did you get the 8lbs difference from?

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 02:18 PM
in fork weight... taking off my JR T adding a mon T (2003) added 4lbs diff oh heh nm... and a slider is like 6.3

You getting the new Letoy IV? I didn't know they were coming out so soon.

I've only tried out one bike before with a Monster T. All I can say is eat your wheaties if you're going to get them.

If your Jr. T lasted this long with all that abuse, I'm sure the Sherman Slider will do alright.

You don't seem to be a fan of the Boxxers. Personally, I like them quite a bit. A bit of a race fork, but man do they feel good.

07-27-2003, 03:14 PM

yes i have and i thought it was an average fork, pretty stiff but didn't feel as nice as my shiver, i have never own one tho and don't trust them in the long run, and i have heard bad things about the TPC damping, technically speaking i don't think they can be as durable internals as the marzocchis, with the exception of the marzocchi eta/ecc cartriges (which are nice when they work but are a pos for 80% of the time)

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 08:08 PM
well its between a 02 monster or Slider or Jr T :D 03 Jr T

Rosscofat
07-27-2003, 08:09 PM

well,i just rode my buddies letoy 3,with a 200o onster t that he picked up this morning and DAMN.
not only does the bike LOOK better(he used to have a 5 inch Jr T),but it rides incredibly well.i rode it up and down the street and found j-hopping to be just as easy as it was before.i was hopping around a foot and a half, and considering ive been on a dually for a while(no hopping or anything),'tis not too bad.
I'd say go with the monster t.
