After my broken leg healed and I sold my Sasquatch, I bought an Atomic. It's been 2 months of easy riding, taking it easy on the ligaments in my ankle, and boom... on an easy cruise after work there is oil everywhere.
I have not done anything over 3 feet to tranny and basically the bike looks new... how did this happen?
LBS says warranty and that they'll send it to Calgary. Just off of a broken leg and now this ... and I was going to ride SFU on Sunday, for the first time since the break :(
Sollutions... ? I need my ride :(
Thank you,
Des

Cycle Works has a quick turn around for those shocks, I had mine returned within a week of me sending it out. It will be as good as new and nice and clean. Patience

How it happened is Fox has done a poor job on alot of their shock assembling this year. Most people haven't done anything wrong when the shock goes during easy riding.

I destroyed two vanilla r's within 2 months with nothing more than a 3 footer. I got a vanilla rc which is holding up well now.
i never would buy a rc- r
i only hgave vanilla regulars cause i m broke, i dont need the fancy adjustments, and risk blowing( so many ppl blew rc, r's compared to regulars)
good luck guy

Here's 4 questions I have...
Should/may a LBS offer a replacement/spare Vanilla/R at cost while my R is away for warranty?
How long does this procedure usually take? Van to Calgary and back.
Should I just return the body/no spring?
Will fox upgrade my shock? like to a 04 Vanilla R or RC? :)
Thanks again :)

1.maybe. depends if your shop is big and/or nice enough. i've heard of JH offering that service
2.depends on their workload. when i had my RC in last summer, took 3 weeks from the day i dropped it off at my lbs to the day i picked it up. the actual turn around time for fox is about 3-5 business days i think; the rest was shipping time, time my shock spent sitting in the shop before shippint, etc etc.
3.sure. spring isnt necessary
4.most likely no. since you just blew yours, odds are that they are just going to rebuild and replace the damaged parts. you didnt have a catastrophic failure where the shock just exploded into a bazillion pieces. but it nevers hurts to ask, they are pretty good with customer service if you give them a call :)

1.Some shops will offer a replacement shock, yes. It pays to frequent one shop and become known there.
2. Like I said, I had mine back within 1 week of me sending it out. I would send it yourself rather than have your lbs send it. I have heard nasty stories of shops not sending out peoples shocks for over a wee (they wait until they have a bunch of stuff to make it cheaper). I put mine in one of those prepaid white envelopes at the Post Office, paid the extra insurance to cover the value, and it cost me $10. I could track the parcel on the internat, and it made it there in 2 days. I don't think your lbs will do better.
3.Why send it back without the spring? I didnt even take the spacers off, I sent it in dirty and all, came back looking new.
4. No, they will not replace your shock with a 2004. They will rebuild yours with new (and better) valves and recharge your shock.
Hope that helps.
