So last night around midnight i decided to e-mail devinci about their new downhill bike (to ask a couple of questions) they had a return e-mail to me by 8:35 the morning after (this morning). The ability to get back to me put them in one of the forfront positions for their bike. Her is what I typed and and the reply was.

my message

While I was attending the Grouse Mountain Mountain Biking World Cup I passed by your team tent and noticed a new DH bike called the 5-flat-5._ A person that was kind enough to explain to us kids about how the bike works and even lets me take a quick spin which made me very and very impressed which put a desire into my mind toget one of you new bikes (seeing as I'm in the market for a new frame._ So I have two questions that the gentelman was unable to answer for us._ One, How much is the msrp going to be and two, when will it be available?

their answer

The prices have not yet been fixed, as we don't have all the parts yet. The price of a bike will always depend on the price of the parts, if certain parts are backorder and we must buy some from another company, this could influence the price of the bike. Certain sizes of certain models should be available at the end of september, this is if all goes well. Last year we were ready for early delivery but a dockworker strike in Asia kept the parts from coming in...

Check regularly with your local Devinci Dealer, he will have the info as soon as I do.

Best regards,

P.S. The name 5-flat-5 will be changed since certain people beleived it had 5 inches of travel when_ it really has 9 inches.

So you're saying that it looks "so much like cortinas triton dh, except it uses a totally different design"

Ewwww.... no sale...

to each his own.. but that bike aint doing anything for me...

it also seems underbuilt for use as a DH bike... or is it actually a EPIC/freeride frame???

^^^ come to think of it it doesn't look much like the devinchi frame and it probly isn't. Taking a close look at it during thee world cup it was really beefy!! and it would make a good dher but also a good freerider (seeing as it pedals really well even with a fox rear shock.

no freerider that for sure... wayyyy too long... as for the frame... while it looks a bit ugly.. the craftsmanship and the frame specs make it quite sick.... some of you swear by the peeler dh and i think its one of the ugliest bikes out there... no offence to anyone that rides one obviously..... dont judge a book by its cover :)
