back in may i got a 98 x-vert DC with new interals and crowns. i rode it for les than a month and some thing brock, i still dont know what (it was shouting oil out of the rebound adj and it sounded like air was coming out of it when it moved). the place i got it from is going to give me my money back because the price to fix it i like half the price of the fork. all get about $300 from that. i also need new cranks and bb (one crank striped out at the pedal and i'v never had a bb that lasted more than 6 months). so i was looking at getting some fsa x-drive cranks. i also have a 2002 dj2 that i'm trying to sell.

so should i get some new cranks and ride the dj2 or should i get a new dc fork. (stratos s5 for 500 or an old 6" boxxer or somthing els)

i ride a 2002 oryx ht. the frame was just sent in for warrenty so i might be getting a new one (it had what looked like a crack on the seat stays and the rear end was bent).

thanks for the help.

Cranks now. You are going to need them sooner or later.

What type of bb's and cranks have you killed?

You should use this experience to your advantage. You have learned that old product (forks) are behind the ball. Don't bother with an old 6" Boxxer or another 98 fork. They will be worn and outdated, and you won't get comparable performance to any new product out of them. It will end up leaving you with the headache you face now.

I would ride your DJ2...You don't need a big fork for that frame, a DJ2 will suit it fine.

Put your money into some quality cranks and a bb that will last more than 6 months. :)

Yeah, what Corey said, if you want 6 inch boxxer look for a 2003 Race (6 or 7 via internal spacer) as this model year comes to a close and they are closed out cheap. That's in October or later so cranks now.

first i had some fsa cheep cranks that came on the bike thay bet so a got some fsa v-drives for $60 under crash replace ment. i snaped the fsa cheep bb that came on the bike and got a steal one. now the steel bb and the fsa cranks are dead.

Sounds like your hard on parts buy some really strong steel cranks like the fsa ones and get the strongest bb that will go with it. Just ride your dj 2 for now and get a better marzocchi later when u got money. Id say start buying really strong parts.
