View Full Version : Help with slightl dent on Boxxer lower leg
I have a small dent on the lower leg of my Boxxer. It so small you can barely tell it is there by looking at it but it is big enough for the movement to stick. I know to buy a new lower leg it will cost a lot. Does anyone know a bike shop or metal shop that can bend the dent out just slightly so it can be smooth again.
Thanks for your help.

I sent my forks back to Rockshox for new seals, and they discovered that my lower legs were bent. I only had to pay $150 for a new lower directly from them. Some shops will charge up to $400 for them!
If you can't afford $150 to maintain your shock, you got into the wrong sport.
Thanks for the info. $150 is very reasonable. I just did not want to pay $150. I did not know that you can order Boxxer parts directly from Rock Shox.

andy whitaker of werner werks could make a tool and remove the dent with it. i could design the tool for you, for free but andy would probably charge you around $50 to make it and remove the dent. depending on the geometry of the dent, it could crack the lower tube when he's removing the dent.

try to get it fixed man.if it keeps rubbing, you're stantion may eventually wear through as well, causing unnecesary bushing slop.
my friend recently punctured his boxxer lower's and did some substantial damage to one stantion. it ended up costing around $600 to get new 2001 lower's,and a new stantion as well as a shop to swap bushings/seals over from his old to new lower's.
the fork runs mint, but at that price i would have looked into getting a new fork!
I'd try to get Pip's friend to take the dent out...that seems like the safest route, providing you don't get any crackage.
