I just got a new hfx-9 front brake (hydro) and im wondering if i need to break it in at all? and if so, how?

ya u need to break it in. I just ride in circles alot slighlt holding my breaks then ride fast and stop hard or go up a hill then hold em doming back down. You also need some hard stops just screw around on them and they will break in.

p.s. this is true and should say somehwere on the hayes site. If you ride em for a ride, the brake material goes on even in the microscopic craks on the rotor, and because its even, you get a harsh noise....if you do hard stops, it make sit uneven, so they stay quiet under braking. :)

You know, for some reason whenever I get new brake pads for my Hayes, I never need to break em in.
They just work rad!

its not the pads...its the new rotors..to work quietly they need to get the resisue in the brussed steel cracks in a jumbles up patters..or else they resonate...

fuck. i go for a ride to break them in on this big hill and my cassette blows up on me. one cog looks like a "C" now and my bike is fuct :mad:

hahahha, yeah i been chessin it since the pancake. 200 bucks for an m arch what a joke, i might get a bigger fork, fix the super t and sell it or put it on my ht.
