Could you run a 8.5 x 2.5 shock on the scream and if so what would the implications be?, increased travel?, Hit the frame?, crazy angle?

just wondering.

Thanks

generally speaking, you'll get a significantly steeper headangle and higher bb height. stock shock is 7.875", so you are running an almost 3/4" longer shock.

nothing should hit the frame because the 8.5 shock bottomed out will measure 6", while the 7.875 shock bottomed out will measure about 5.5", so you will actually gain a bit of clearance.

judging from pics though, the rocker arms are quite tight with the top-tube, so i dont know if your bike will be able to accomodate the longer shock. you also have to check if the chainstays have enough free movement to be able to swing down some to accomodate the longer shock and higher bb height.

I doubt the chainstays have enough clearance to swing down to accomodate a shock that size.

judging from these pics...

i conclude there's no way you can make an 8.5" i2i shock fit on the scream without the use of custom rocker plates, and even then, you are opening up a whole new can of worms for yourself.
