How many turns do you guy's get with the rebound knob on the Slider.

I noticed that I get a whole shit load of turns of Compression, but I only get like 1 turn of Rebound, and no matter how much I turn the knobs, it doesn't seem to make a difference. Just curious I suppose.

i can turn mine just under half a turn on the rebound. but im keeping mine on the slowest. fast is a bit too fast for me.

oh and yeh i can get a shitload of turns on the compression too! and ajusting the compression sort of feels like its ajusting the preload (but i know its not) cant feel much difference in the fast/slow tho

good, so I am not the only one :) Thank's man. I appreciate it.

You have rebound full slow (counter clockwise if looking from top)?

What about your compression settings?

yep. i have my rebound as slow as possible. and my compression fast i think. i cant tell much difference in the compression so i dont know if its fast or slow :P well the compression turned counter-clockwise frim riders view.

in the manual it says to only use 5wt oil in it. do u think their just saying that? coz i wanna put some heavier oil in mine. i want my fast rebound to be wot slow is like now, and slow to be rele slow for drops.

That's was I was thinking. I can't figure out why they would say ONLY 5wt.

After my first 20 hours (hell, I only have MAYBE 8 on it right now because I dont have my new frame and my chain is fubar'd) I will be doing an oil change and I am going to call them and figure out exactly what the deal with the oil weight is.

yeh, im gonna change my oil after 20 hours too. i have done about 5 hours probably......maybe not even that. i wanna hear what they say too about the 5wt. maybe someone else who runs sliders on this board knows????

i think that heavier oil is needed, for sure.

seems that when no knobs do anything, it's time for thicker oil eh?

Compression is at full all the way clockwise from the rider's view. Set up the fork with sag as described in the manual. If you are worried about blowing through travel use the lower end of the sag dimensions. It seems some of these newer forks feel really soft on pavement but work great on trails.

The reason that they recommend 5wt oil ONLY is that the compression damping is pretty sophisitcated, and really dialed to work with 5wt. The fork starts to feel pretty harsh in compression with heavier weight oils. Manitous are highly tunable, so it's possible to use a stiffer shim stack for rebound, but I'd be surprised if it's nessecary. The stock setup should be plently slow on the trail, though it may not feel that way in the parking lot. It's the same with the compression damping. In the parking lot, the adjustment is very subtle. On the trail it's more noticable. I generally use the compression to control bottoming, or increase the plushness of the fork. The rebound I leave relatively fast to keep the fork from packing up.
