Hi Guys. I have a JrT2 and I am replacing the arch with a new one. But... The old arch does not want to come off. Is it lock tight? I don't know because I am puting alot of muscle into taking the screw out. The fork is new so it wouldn't be dirt or anything of the sort. Any suggestions. Thanks

probably loctite. i dont think you can damage it by trying too hard to unscrew it.

ya dude its probably loc-tited, i dunno if this would work or maybe even weaken the arch, but maybe try heating it up with a heat gun or blow dryer?:???:

I will give it a shot but I don't know if Loc tite will soften with heat? But there is a point when the loc-tite gives, doesn't it?? or am I just an naive(sp)?

get a longer/stronger allen key and put some strength into it.

I want to but unfortunatley I am limited only to the short keys. I may have to get my local shop to take care of it for me.

to get more leverage, try to find a metal tube that will allow the allen key to fit it

that should do the job

Seatposts work well.

when i repainted my 03 jr-T2 it took some muscle to break lose the factory locktite on the arch.....

dont be afraid, it will come undone, it just take alot of effort...

good luck...

Can't wait to get it on the fork. By the way leverage works great. I got two bolts out, while doing so twisted the key into a swirl. Oh ya and now WHO KNOW HOW TO GET A STRIPED BOLT OUT!!! SHIT!! THIS SUCKS.

How long did you have it? Why did you get rid of it. He told me he is into dirt jumping and won't need it for larger tires.

I think there is some guy on Pinkbike looking for one. He is from Langley. A little help for ya. What do you mean about the vice grips? The bolt is still in the arch. I can see my whistler weekend going bye bye.

take it to your lbs or go to canadian tire and buy a special tool designed to get stripped bolts out

Anything. There's one that's like a bunch of pins that will fit around any shaped bolt, then there's anotehr that's like a drillbit that just wedges into the screw and then you can turn it out.

theres this thing u hammer it into the head of the stripped bit and u twist it out

Thanks guys for all the advice. I will go to Canadian Tire and get the drill bit screw extractor. I hope this works.

When I stripped a crown clamp bolt on my Jr T, I tapped an oversized torx bit into the stripped hex bolt, and it came out with no problem. You'll find that the screw extractors are pretty pricey, and this might work for cheap. You might also want to drill a small hole through the bolt, to give it some pressure relief.

how funny

my dad works at loctite, head of Global Automotive Resaerch & Development and Engineering.

i have tons and tons of loctite at home. if it is the arch, it would probasbly be the 452 strength. To get it off, if it is loctite on there, heating it will work, but there is a much faster way, but i forget. ill ask my dad when he gets home.

Hi guys one more thing. I talked to overtime sports about taking off the arch. They said the best thing to do is to give the screws a tap with a hammer to break the loc-tite seal then there should be no problem. A little something to help the next guy out.

If you canget three of the four bolts out you can then grab the arch and spin it around and that should help unscrew the last bolt.
