I am planning on upgrading my big hit... a lot I want to get the big link and a new fork but am not sure what fork to get, I also would like to hear opinions on cranks and wheels, I want to hear your opinions on how to make my meek little big hit a beast.
Thanks :fro: flizzy :fro:
depends on when you want to get everything done...
This year: Shiver, Hadley bolt on rear/20mm front with Mag30 rims, your cranks (assuming they're holzfellers) are damn good, dont touch them...
Next year: Same thing, except 888 instead of Shiver.
Straight up. I run or wish I ran these parts on my big hit(except the fork, but you can no longer buy 02 monsters...and the shiver is damn good.
I don't know how much you have to spend though...

i am doing the same exact thing that you are doing, i am getting the bighit 8" upgrade with the foxrc (i do a ton of dj) I am getting a 2004 sherman slider with 7" of buttery smooth travel, some new maxxis 2.7" tires, and a mrp chain guide. and a bunch of other stuff like lock on grips, pads, ect... I am putting another 1500.00 american money into my bighit comp this summer. It is going to look so pimp:thepimp:

dont worry about cranks now, buy new ones if they brake. I ride prety smooth and i have never broken bent anything on my bighit, except a derailer hanger:rolleyes: I gues i wasnt riding that smooth that day:) , If your a hack, invest in new cranks, if you are carfull of what you ride and think about it before you huck, then just have fun with the ones that you are using now.

I am doing the same thing, with a shiver dc and a big link in the back. If I were you I would get a super t, if your not going too huge, and its a good fork for all around riding. Get the monster or shiver if you are really into hucking. Don't worry about the cranks, if they are still working fine, theres no point getting new ones. As for wheels if you have the money a set of trail pimps would be nice, or alex triple walls laced to profile hubs.

yeah my cranks are okay they are beat to sh*t but they are still tight don't click and never come loose or any thing. I like the sound of a shiver and am partial to those unless I can afford a dorado or ir the trip 8 turns out to be really nice, my only question about the super t is how harsh they are if they are any thing like the jr ts and my dj1 then I want to stay away if they are pretty plush I will definatly consider them, keep the suggestions comeing.
Thanks :fro: flizzy :fro:

I have heard that the super ts are super plush, they use a completely differenct damping system than the dj1 and junior t. They use the same dampening as the shivers. If your not doing full-out racing than I would save my money and not get a dorado. The 888 looks good but I would wait some time to see what everyone else thinks of its performance. I think jensonusa.com or beyondbikes.com has the 03 shiver for 750 USD.

this linkage is better http://www.avalanchedownhillracing.com/stapleton.html it has a bearing at the shock mount for extremely smooth action

Yes but the avalanche link can void the warranty(I think), also it is a lot more money. I would stick with the specialized one, they retail at 400 USD but you can get one at most places for less than 350.

just get the fox rc. It is alot better than the fox r. i dont really mind the fox r that much, it is great for dj, plus i love that lively feel it gives. I dont need an old lady shock the sucks up those small speed bumps that wernt there. just a shock that sucks up the bighits. but thats just me
