Anyone rode both the 03 Monster and a previous year?

I have an 02 Monster which works great, but I rode an 03 Monster around the parking lot at my LBS and it felt very different - so much slower and heavier - but that was the parking lot.

Also overheard people saying the 02s are now wanted items as people are finding the 03s are an extra 2 or 3 pounds AND don't get the advertised 200 mm travel (actually 190 mm or less - not much more than the old Monster).

the 03s have adjustable compression and it rocks. both high and low speed. The adjustmenst work great and help to control bottoming. they are a little heavier but internals are much nicer imo. they have 190 mm of travel and 10 mm negative travel. and change your user name

I prefered the internals of the '03.....but get/keep an '02.
They are lighter and the internals are still fine:)

I have not had any problems with my 02's and once I got the oil and spring set up dialed I have been happy with them. I did however just break my top crown which looks like it would be hard to do on an '03. Just a little niggle.
