View Full Version : Victoria Riders - Be on TV for Blair Chair Project

As you may know we are holding an auction for Blair Jones - the Kamloops rider who suffered a spinal cord injury last year - to raise $10,000 to buy him a DH chair.
I have been contacting the other media to try to get more exposure and increase the reach of the project - basically to raise more cash.
A reporter from the new VI got back to me and he would like a rider who could do some stunts - probably urban or park riding would be best - to be part of the news piece.
You would need to be able to speak confidently to a reporter - or you could bring a mouthy friend along to handle those duties.
You will be asked about Blair, about the auction and about nsmb. I will coach you beforehand on what might be appropriate to say. Once again - the rider and the spokesperson need not inhabit the same body.
It would also be an asset if you had some nsmb clothing - tshirt, hoodie or jersey - to wear. I will swag you out after but there isn't time to get you stuff beforehand.

I hope he gets that chair, I could barely stand seeing him like that when we all had our bikes. You could just look at him and tell he can't wait to rip again. He has one of the highest spirits I have ever seen of someone.

when do they want to do the shoot? i have all the swag and gear of course :)

that would be sweet but im not the best urban rider. there are some good riders on the dirty robot urban rides. I would be up for some trail riding exposure.

i don't know when its going to be on or when were going to do the taping. i'm still waiting for the VI guy to contact me. shane and i are coming down to Vic on wednesday anyways for the dirty robot ride. :)

exactly. there will be plenty of hacks out there just like you:D :P :lol: jk, but seriously there are a number of people who just ride for the fun of it. every week they come out and ride even if they may not be that good. you dont have to bea pro urbaner to go on these rides. hell look at me! I suck at urban but we dont always do a strictly urban ride. sometimes we will go around and do 50% urban and 50% freeride. sometimes 75% urban and 25% trials ect ect ect......just come out. trust me you learn a lot of stuff and meet a lot of new people from the biking comunity.

hahaha blah you should have come out. there were tons of peeps and the first hour was lame cuz there was too many peeps gettin in the way so shane, ian (dirt for breakfast) took off and went to vic west and rode ghetto urban, it was sweet 8)
haha you missed my sweet bail, i had to roll out of a nose down off a ledge i was trying to hop to manual. i bruised my wrist. but there was some sweet shit later on - we went over on the rocks by the save-on foods by vic west skate park and rode that rock wall ride and a nice gap jump off the rocks. then we setup some palletts behind save-on there and made a sweet ghetto urban gap jump and ladder thingy. :thepimp:
haha there were these two drunk/high chix downtown gettin us to gap bastion later on. lol :thepimp:
ya i think the rock wall and the ghetto urban with the pallettes was best. i doubt we'll come on that dirtyrobot ride again cuz there was way too many peeps and it was kinda disorganized. we'd rather just come down and hook up with a few peeps sometime.
there was one dude riding a grey 2003 stinky dee, fuck he was a good rider.

last night was rediculusly dumb! it was so boring and it is usually more organized than that. we split up into groups at fishermans warf so my and my friend same and his bro went to white rock and some more ppl were there. i hit the bigger part of it. and then me and the guy on the stinky deelux were going to ride homewards and hit up stuff on teh way back. we did bastion again and sj willis drop. I bailed harsh of it even tho ive done it a million times. after that i went home, i think they were heading towards the hip. but your totally right. last night was really lame!
yea we hit bastion stairs a few times later and it was way better at 10:30/11. All in all we had a good ride last night :) just way too many riders earlier on.

meh the number of ppl doesnt bother me. the tourists do. and those weird times when we just sit around. like its never been so boring like last night! its better when teh tourists calm down and get outta the way later at night and all those other lil kids who come and watch us do stuff on there urban/djing bikes leave and dont get in the way. there are group of kids who come sometimes and just sit there talking and folowing us. never even attempting anything, even the easy stuff.

ya i noticed a lot of peeps who didn't ride at all. they just hung around and chatted like old ladies. that young kid on the white bike, i think he was someone's son or little brother, he was doing more than half the other dorks standing around. i agree, the tourists and number of people walking around makes it harder to ride anything with that many riders, but there was so much standing around. one of the keys to good urban is continuous riding and sessioning :)

that kid on the white bike was my riend sams lil bro. yeah at least he was doing some stuff. the other kids like there was a group. one had a 4hun, one had a 03' one25 and the others had some norco dj bikes too i think. they have come to a few and do nothing at all! oh BTW check out the pics on www.dirtyrobot.net
