Videos, seem to be going aboslutly no where, Sure the riders may be going "bigger" but whats the deal, In my mind this is what moutain biking videos have done, Repeted them selfs, showcaseing the same riders 1000 times doing the same line wow lets go out and buy another new video with that DUDE in it look when he did in that last video then you buy it and the guy does the same fuckin lines as the other video. When are the film makers gonna start bucking up and starting to change there style of showcasing freeriding, dirtjumping ect.

Sure they may have built a few NEW lines here and there but lets all face or there found 1 or 2 new unknowen riders. But lets think about the progression in videos in the last 3 or is it 4 years im not to sure ill go with 3 well ride to the hills was put out back in 2000 or 2001 (i cant even rember shows how much i no). Anyways its 3-4 years later and thats still remains standing the BEST VIDEO IN FREERIDING OF ALL TIME. WHats the deal? nothing has ever came close to that other then the torque videos and warwicks "theCircus". But those 2 videos came no where near close.

I have watched about 15 videos that werre released after to rtth and they all lack severly.

My question to you is with freeriding and moutain biking in general growing why are the videos going sooo sooo far down hill? (serously watch rtth then JIB)

WHat do you think about teasers for videos that show you all the best riding? its a pretty big let down when you watch a super sick teaser and then buy the video and its just all the stuff you just watched in the teaser.

Also I would like to point out how as of late, alot of riders have been falling hard while being filmed. Do you think that the videographer should always have first aid training no mater what before going out filming? think about how many rides have gottn hurt or serously hurt filming some times they may only be doing stuff cause the camras there seems sort of ridiculus to come so close to death for a video.

also i do think there is a potential for one hell of a video to come out this year that may out do rtth that being warwicks new film rise, i look forward to seeing it.

and here come the replys that shall say dont see you making a video stop whinning ect. Go a head give it a go and keep the pointless replys comin. NSMB.COM. Dont forget to mock the spelling grammer patrol

I agree with you.

Videos are getting way to repetative. In my mind, one video that stood out among the other was back in the saddle, I really enjoyed watching that one. It makes me wana ride and I like thos kinds of videos

If you were refering to me hurting myself while being filmed. I had a helmet cam on and wasn't concentrating on what I was doing as much as I should have been, it was a stupid error and I had made the line 1000 times prior. I dont think it was the filmers falt at all. It was my fault, I should have been paying more attention to what I was doing. Not the rider infront of me.

No, I dont think filmers should be first aid certified, if filmers should be then everyone should be? There just out there to capture the riding, there not pushing anyone to do anything huge, its completly up to the rider.

I think RISE will be a sweet video. I'm also looking forward to watching it. I hope I'm not let down like I was for Kranked 5 and NWD 3. Movies that have stood out in my mind are Ride to the hills and Back in the saddle. All the huge big budget films that are coming out (NWD) are lame! They dont showcase anything but big road gaps and big drops and big dirt jumps, I'd prefer a video that show cased the lifestyle more and was a lot more entertaining, more variety. Its nice to see a night ride once in a while, maybe not for 5 minutes of the video, but its good to mix in variety. I'd rather not watch a video with 11 back flips in a row and 25 tables in a row that doens't show case any life style and doens't showcase anything other than big big big.

It is true the biger budget the worse the film seems to be as of late it doesnt make any sence. I think nwd problem is they dont no how to leave stuff on the floor at the editing room (just like u said HELL TRACK is a great showcase of that).

And tommy v in k5 was also quite the boring secne.

Back in the sadle is a gret movie but i like watching the whole video without geting pissed of of having to fast forward thrue stuff ( night riding, cow tossing).

I wasnt reffuring to you specificlay but there have been alota guys go down super hard, you are defitaly one of them.

Yea, bigger isn't better. Dirtjumps are fun to watch, but I hate watching the same sequence 3 times with different riders. Unless they'r eoulling something radically different, I don't care.
Skinnies are kidna boring to watch. If theres multiple possible lines, and people riding each line (SUper T with some others in NSX5) it's cool to watch.

NSX 5 was awesome. I still haven't seen K5, or RTTH.

DIfferent tricks, and a whole buncha different lines, and good music are the keys.

I thot the night riding scene was great, however after about 3 minutes of it I have to admit I was a little board. I also fast forwarded the cow reslting or whatever it was. Thats not lifestlye to me. But I'm not complaning, it definitely out did every other movie ive seen aside from RTTH.

I cant wait to see RISE and BITS 2 and NSX 7.

i do agree that the last couple video's produced have been the same repedative qualities that r really boring to watch.
though i enjoy K5 and so on i understand how tiring it is to see a movie that u feel u have seen before over and over again.

PS.

don't tell people how to ride

PS BLAH.

jib was new and inventive for those who ride street, or atleast for me, it made me stoked to go out and find new lines never seen or tried before.

yah,but it all depends on what kind of riding u enjoy doing in the first place...

what i am saying is from a street and DJ riders perspective JIB was pretty cool ( atleast to me ) , but from a more mountain oriented riders point of view i could understand how it could be found boring.

I thought Back in the Saddle was sorta boring with all that filler.
Kranked 5 was really good IMO
RTTH is still the best
Kranked 4 licked
NSX5 was good
NSX6 was alright
Disorder 2 was the worst
Disorder 3 was good.

dylan, you're always so obsessed with vids but here's something to think about...notice how the kids here are getting better and better getting to the same level as the pros almost? Yet most top dogs aren't making the same leaps and bounds? That makes videos tough when you can do all the same shit. Betcha tuff guy action hero can slay the hell track now. The skill level at the top might be plateauing. It happens in every sport like this. In skating, the Plan B video came out and nothing touched it for a long time. in snowboarding it was the hard n' hungry, then the whiskeys then the Forum vid. Anyways, something to think about and yes, some of the big budget film guys are getting lazy.

As a rule of thumb to me, when a producer has 2 movies worth of footage, they release 3. NWD 2 and 3 could be combined into the best hour ever, but instead they split it up and put in twice the hell track, etc. All for the money.

Also, it annoys me to see the same shot 3 times in NWD 3. Kyle Strait dj'ing at whistler is in the whistler ad, then the intro, then his actual part...

COTG was a good movie, it provided more than just gap drop jump drop gap jump jump drop.... the superzeroes and the fork service added a bit of 'lifestyle'.

I totally understand what u guys mean about how everything in the biking vids is getting repeditive (especially the hell tracks) but then again there are some of the few parts that arn't repeditive and are a fist for something like in NWD lll John Cowan's loop but even then they showed him do it too many times.
Some of the better scenes in the NWD videos were (in NWD ll) Gracia's and Chausson's part, It was a little repeditive but was still nice to see some speed; Nickolas Voulloz simly amazing it showed his speed and almightlyness very well and not very repeditive if at all; Bender, don't insult me here no repeating and it was interesting to some guy go massive (see the bail section to see him crash)
NWD lll out of this one i liked most of the sections though i found that it was quite repedive so.. Bourdon and Strait, I seeing that little man fly; Sam Brown and Grant Allen, the hampster wheel was overplayed but other than that it was nice; Wade Simmons, not the best work section i've seen cause it focused on more him going big than tech riding, still it is nice to watch anf that massive road gap/ step down is insane!!! And finally i like Travair's and Kohut's section, sure it isn't real bikes but the determination and will to stap in our spot compined with the sweet music and Stacy's insane Whisler riding make me wanna go rip sooo bad
Superheros lll Hard to label the good section cause they change the rider's soo much but i'll give it a go, Inshane, nice riding it was better than most of the movie cause it was short and to the point (which was that u can rip and go big); The red bull rampage, lots of guy going big and laying down some sick lines; Gareth Dyer, The Aussies and The big jump, Gareth is just a :thepimp: guy and that gap from roof to roof is sick, The aussies, so nice riding, the big jump, HOLY %#$&!!!!!! It was soo big and to see Vanderham style it was amazing!!

I buy vids to support the sponsorship of the riders that are in them. If the vids didnt sell, bike companies and other sponsors wouldn't be there - and then you grommets would have nothing to bitch about on this subject. KIDS, I'm sure, would find something.

I find that videos that keep you surprised are the best to watch, with a nice upbeat music track. For example the Rampage section in Sprung 5 is my favourite part in all movies, because the guys throw down huge and it's so technical, but you don't know if they are going to land it or not. It kinda keeps you wondering and the music that went with it really accented the landings and shit. I love that part.

i find most movies comming out now are quiet repetative. want i want to see in a mtb movie is variety good soundtracks that work with the riding shots. i want to see more "amature" riders as this always catches my attention for sum reason as i like to see how far apart amatur and ro riders are. and "amatur" riders makes it sum what look for realistic imo. i dont want to see the same line being hit or trick more then twice in a row. and i also dont want to see stupid drama/skitz in movies eg. search for the holly trail. as these are boring and to me make the movie poor.

i want to see a fast moving exciting on the edge of your seat mtb movie that makes u want to go out and ride lieik u never riden before!!

so what you are saying then, is that: the movies are quite (not quiet) repetative BUT any skits in them to make them different you don't like either; SO just make another movie like all the others.

Well, lucky for you, you wont be dissapointed with any of the new releases. I'm thinking Rise will be good.
