with all the bikes getting stolen, why not make a sticky thread where people can put up descriptions and pics of their stolen bikes, and other can peruse and maybe help locate. it seems we have a number of stolen bike threads and it might be good to get them all in one place.

feel free to tell me to shut the hell up...i'm used to it.

thanks.

Mabye a 2 second delay on some page loads that flashes up a pic of the bike with the location it was stolen from.

Burn it into our retinas!

my take is that if u did a sticky like that, everyone will post "what it look like, how it happen" and it will get flooded, usually when one gets stolen, there are 2 pages about it, then another, 2 more pages about that one, and the bikes would get lost in the post, so it wouldnt really do much good. now, if u had a whole area (such as gear, pictures) called "stolen goods" it would make more sence, so there is an individual post for each individual item.

just my .o2 ;)

are you saying that:

It's a closed thread/forum, only mods can post, and to get them to post you would PM? There would be a how to thread at the top as well...

I like the idea, and I think it would be helpful in combatting all the bike thefts. I'd really like it to replace the NBR forum, but thats just me

I'll talk to the other guys about it. We DO already have a stolen goods section in the Buy and Sell, so in a way it already exists in a "closed" format, there are no replies or useless comments, but emails can be sent to those that post. So I guess in way it would be redundant to have a forum about it to.

I know people will say "but nobody ever looks there" (and I know in a minute I will see a sarcastic reply saying this  ) , but if people can't be bothered to make the several mouse clicks to check there now and then and will only view that which is directly in front of them, I would say that these people are not the ones who care enough to make a little effort to help recover stolen goods, ya know?

I think the people that REALLY care will already be browsing that area of the website, and those are the ones more likely to actually try to help.

Discuss....

its a good idea, but if its in the shore forum, more people will see it

..I guess my point that yeah, more people will see it because it is spoon fed to them. It doesn't mean they will do anything about it. If they are pro-active and make the effort to see what has been stolen in the "stolen goods" section of the site, they are a million times more likely to be the guy who questions joe blow on the stolen bike on the trail.

Even if we do a stolen goods forum, it takes the stuff into a different arena, just like it is now. People are just as likely to avoid it their out of inconvenience as they are with its current location.

I agree that it sucks, but it is the truth.

Corey,

Could the mods at least implement of system where they change the title of a stolen goods thread based on the info inside of it? I mentioned this before, I think you said it was a good idea.

PS Carter Motorsports had the Belray, $15, No GS 7wt. I bought Belray.

We could do this...and I will have to see what the other guys say...

Stolen bike post title's MUST indicate bike model and year, and make that the job of the poster, not us. I know if it is left to us we run the risk of missing one and then it isn't fair to that guy. If there is no title that complies, it isn't "stuck".

Good stuff on the fork oil!

just try it. its really easy to set up another forum. and then just make rules stating what info is necessary. as previously stated, the only problem i see is that not everyone will see the posts, as they do in the shore forum. but what i don't like with the idea of posting in the shore forum is that we get a ton of stickies there. however, if my bike was jacked, i'm sure i would want as many peeps as possible to know and i would care less how many stickies were there. maybe a system where stolen rig posts are put in the shore forum for a specified amount of time then moved over to the stolen goods forum.
