View Full Version : Lower Clown Shoes up at Whistler?
Who has ridden lower clown shoes up at whistler? I heard it starts with a big roller coaster bridge. What is that trail like?

The trail is technical - I rode it yesterday. It starts with a roller coaster, then a long teety after that, a log ride, then a half roller that turns right (and is very slippery - go slow - I skinned my ankle bad), and then it winds a couple switchbacks and goes into a drop that is minimum 9', but could be more depending on how fast. After the drop, it turns right, hooks up with lower Joyride right before the Biker X. Technical and fun - but I wouldn't want to do it in the rain.

i rode it yesterday. N-har-lee. Off camber teeter totter, super skinny skinnies and a 9-10 footer at the bottom. And no whistler style transition helpers on this either. The new DH course looks good to. More gnarl.

no roll option on the drop like on shlayer ??? thats suprising considering all the recent injuries up there.

There's a pretty easy line around it though.

It's a ladder drop that's about 4ft wide.

lower joyride is the only way? besides upper clown shoes
the new sections of the dh(national dh) are really fun and very gnarly
lower clownshoes is fun too.. the last drop is a true drop.. i stood under the last support and i couldnt reach the bridge.. so taht means its about 7 feet if you drop straight down.. where you land its a good 8-9-10 i duno i didnt really stop to care

Hardtail-able? the drop I mean... no huge boulders in the landing or anything?
I really didn't like upper clownshoes. It sucked.
oh yeah.. its hardtail doable
the aline rockdrop is fixed up too.. it has a nice tranny now.. i think its as smooth as the old glc drop. could be done on a hardtail easily

That drop is so smooth now.
The clown ones i guess is like the Schleyer drop without the safety thing.

You can still ride around the drop but not a really smooth line. The only thing bad about lower clown shoes is when you don't want to do the skinnies, there's no ride around like upper clown shoes. The drop isn't too bad but it is only a matter of time before the landing gets all chewed up.
not exactly like the schleyer one.. theres no gap
but youll just have to go and see

yeah its definately hardtailable, like its fine now even on a hardtail, but if they put a little work into the tranny, god that would be such a nice drop.

GOD if a fully can do a drop its hardtail doable for sure.. show me this "real drop" and ill put it back in its place ;) after maui
its true. if the tranny is good a ht can do it just find
if the tranny is sketchy, a hardtail wont appreciate it

tranny could be as bad as the old a line rock drop.. just land farther down, its not the tranny that makes it smooth its rider
im not saying it cant be done.. its just nicer to your body and bike not to do drops to sketchy rough trannys on hardtails

BAH back to the hardtails id be the same with full just not as bad.. with hardtails all u do is use your legs insted of a shock.. :) I have never found a tranny to be ruff in my life time

Lower clown shoes is pretty dope.. not too hard but still fun, keeps you on your toes..
Upper a-line is all smoothed out! finally! schleyer drop tranny is all smoothed out, along with a-line drop.. can't even feel either drop on a ht , cept if you overshoot to flat :(
i got owned after the wallride when my wheel washed out though , time for new tire!

I didn't realize a 8" wide log was skinny. Now I feel like a hero. Thank-you.

i wasnt a big fan of upper clownshoes, i dunno. seemed like they tried tp put too much stuff in too small an area. but maybe thats just me. its a coo ltrail but id rather do the whistler DH. those rock faces are so fun to launch off.
lower clown shoes sounds alot cooler than upper though, so who knows.
